Today we closed out the Sermon on the Mount with Matthew 7:21–29.

Jesus leaves us with a sobering question: What are you building your life on?

It is possible to say “Lord, Lord,” know the language, have the affiliation, and still never truly belong to Christ. Jesus makes the distinction clear: genuine faith produces a life that increasingly hears His Word and builds accordingly.

The rain falls.
The floods rise.
The winds blow.

The storm does not create the foundation—it reveals it.

Money, status, s*x, politics, careers, relationships, reputation, and even religion cannot carry the weight of a human soul. Christ alone is the Rock.

And when the storm comes, the evidence of grace is not that life never gets hard. It is that the house is still standing because the foundation underneath it is stronger than the storm around it.

In Matthew 7:24–29, Jesus does more than give us good advice—He shows us how to build the architecture of our lives.

Two houses.
Two foundations.
The same storm.
Two very different outcomes.

The question is not simply, “Did you hear Jesus?” The question is, “What did you build with what you heard?”

Jesus closes this sermon with a declaration of His authority. He does not speak like one commentator among many. He speaks as the King—the One whose Word determines what is true, what is wise, and what will endure.
