🌡️ Cooling Locations Available Beginning Today

As summer temperatures rise, the City of Gastonia and Gaston County are working together to help residents find temporary relief during periods of extreme heat.

Beginning today, June 15 through September 15, designated cooling areas will be available at City of Gastonia community centers when temperatures are forecasted to reach 95° or higher.

Residents may also visit Gaston County libraries and other public facilities during their normal operating hours to cool off.

📍 Cooling location options include:
🏢 City community centers
📚 County libraries
🏛️ Other public facilities open during normal business hours

⏰ Designated City cooling areas will operate from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM when activated.

These spaces are intended to provide temporary relief from extreme heat. Visitors are expected to follow all facility rules and policies.

We're thrilled to celebrate the conclusion of Phoenix Counseling Center's Walk Into Wellness Challenge!

Over the past month, staff members embraced friendly competition, tracked countless steps, and encouraged one another along the way. After a strong finish and weeks of dedication, we're excited to congratulate Melvyn, MC Counselor II, for taking first place! 🎉

Over the past week, over 40 individuals graduated from Phoenix programs across Gaston, Lincoln, and Cleveland counties. We celebrated not only milestones in recovery, but the courage, perseverance, and determination it took to reach them.

These ceremonies were a powerful reminder of what is possible when people choose hope, healing, and growth. We heard incredible stories of perseverance, hard-earned victories, and the strength it takes to keep moving forward, even when the road is difficult.

Some of the wisdom shared by our graduates was too powerful to keep to ourselves. Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing some of their advice and reflections in the hope that it reaches someone who needs to hear it.

To our graduates: thank you for trusting us with a part of your journey. Your determination inspires us every day, and it has been a privilege to celebrate this milestone alongside you.
