“Just a phase,” or a nervous system asking for help? Here’s how to tell.
Every kid fidgets — movement is a normal, healthy way little bodies self-regulate. But there’s a real difference between a child who fidgets and can still settle when they need to, and a child whose body seems stuck in constant motion because “still” isn’t available to them.
That second pattern often points to a nervous system running in a low-grade stress response — using movement as the only tool it has to cope. If the fidgeting comes alongside trouble sleeping, big emotional swings, sensory sensitivities, or just a feeling in your gut that something’s off, that instinct is worth listening to.
You don’t have to guess. At our office, we use INSiGHT scans to actually measure how your child’s neuro-spinal system is adapting to stress — real information instead of a “let’s just wait and see.” From there, gentle, specific chiropractic care supports a clearer, more connected nervous system, giving your child’s body a stronger foundation to self-regulate — whether this turns out to be a phase or something more.
