As National Protect Your Hearing Month comes to a close, remember that hearing health deserves attention all year long! 👂💙

Protecting your hearing doesn't have to be complicated. Simple habits like lowering the volume on your headphones, wearing hearing protection in noisy environments, and giving your ears a break from loud sounds can make a lasting difference.

The Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) encourages everyone to make hearing health a priority, not just in October, but every day of the year.

Your hearing connects you to the people, moments, and experiences that matter most. Let's keep it that way!

💙 Readers’ Choice Voting is Open! 💙

For the past several years, you have given us an incredible honor: Commonwealth Audiology has been named Readers’ Choice for Best Hearing Care Services since 2023! 🥹

We are so incredibly thankful for every patient who has trusted us with their hearing healthcare, shared their story, sent a friend or family member our way, or simply taken the time to tell someone about their experience with us.

Being able to serve our community is something we never take for granted. Every conversation, every fitting, every “I can hear that!” moment, and every relationship we build is why we love what we do. ❤️

If Commonwealth Audiology has made a difference in your life or the life of someone you love, we would be so grateful for your vote in this year’s 'Readers’ Choice: Best Hearing Care Services' category!

One of the biggest reasons people put off trying hearing aids is the fear of committing to something they are not sure about.

➡️ What if they do not work the way I hoped?
➡️ What if I spend all that money and it is not the right fit?
➡️ What if I get home and it just does not feel right?

Those are fair questions. And at Commonwealth Audiology,, we think you deserve real answers.

So here is how we handle it. 👇

Every patient who starts with new hearing technology at our practice has 75 days to wear them in their real life. If at the end of that time something is not working the way you need it to, we fix it. And if it is still not right, you can return them.

No pressure, no penalty, no awkward conversation. 🙅‍♀️

This time of year feels like a natural reset, a little more structure coming back into daily life. If you’ve been thinking about doing something about your hearing, this is a great time. 💛

Questions about how the trial works? Send us a message! 📲 We are happy to walk you through it.

Something I want families to understand, because it changes everything…

👉 When your parent goes quiet at a crowded dinner table, they are not being antisocial.
👉 When they laugh along with a story they clearly didn't follow, they are not being dismissive.
👉 When they ask you to repeat yourself, they are not being annoying.
👉 When they wave you off and say they’re fine, they might actually be exhausted.

Hearing loss doesn't feel the way most people expect it to from the outside. It isn't silence. It's an effort. Constant, invisible, exhausting effort. 😣 Just trying to follow a conversation in a loud restaurant can feel like you’re running a race no one else knows is happening.

It's laughing at the right moment because you caught a word or two and made your best guess, and praying nobody asks you to weigh in.

It's slowly, quietly, starting to prefer smaller gatherings. Shorter phone calls. Fewer situations where you might get it wrong.

When you understand what your parent is actually navigating, the conversation becomes less about convincing them of something and more about letting them know you see them.

If this sounds familiar, share this with someone who needs to read it. 👇

This one is worth sharing with every parent you know. 👇

Researchers found that one in eight teenagers already shows measurable signs of noise-related hearing damage before they even finish high school.

Not older adults.

Not factory workers.

Teenagers.

The culprit is almost always the same, earbuds at high volume, for long stretches, every single day. The damage is gradual, invisible, and permanent. And because it happens slowly, most kids have no idea it is happening.

As a new school year starts and the earbuds go back in, it is a good time to check in. A baseline hearing evaluation takes less than an hour and gives you a clear picture of where your child's hearing actually stands.

Early awareness always leads to better outcomes. And this is one of those things that is much easier to protect than it is to reverse.

If you have been meaning to get this done, now is a good time. 🍎

“The quieter you become, the more you can hear.” - Ram Dass

It’s a simple line, but it really hits home, doesn’t it? So many of the moments that ground us depend on clear hearing. If those everyday sounds have started to fade, we’re here to help you bring them back.

Many people know that heart health affects energy, stamina, and overall well‑being.

But fewer people realize it can also influence hearing!

Conditions like high blood pressure can reduce healthy blood flow to the inner ear, and when those delicate structures do not receive what they need, hearing can be affected over time. 🫀 It is one more reason to stay mindful of cardiovascular health and to seek support when something feels off.

If you have noticed changes in your hearing and also manage heart‑related conditions, a yearly hearing test is a must! Feel free to DM us if you want to chat more about this! 📲

Be honest… we’ve all been part of the Misheard Lyrics Club. 😂 Whether you thought the song said or you’ve been confidently singing the wrong words for years, you’re in good company.

However, if you’re noticing more “Wait… what did they say?” moments lately, it might be time for a quick hearing check. We’re here for you!

Our overall health plays a powerful role in how well we hear, and diabetes is one condition that deserves special attention.

Over time, changes in blood sugar can affect the tiny blood vessels and nerves in the inner ear, making hearing loss twice as common in people with diabetes compared to those without it. It is a reminder that caring for your hearing is also part of caring for your whole body! 🫶❣️

If you or someone you love is managing diabetes, a baseline hearing test is a simple and meaningful step toward long‑term wellness.

We are here to support you with compassion every step of the way!
