An artistic representation of “my stomach hurts” by a 4 year-old. This little one had a big message about what it felt to have a stomach ache so bad it made her cry. At 4 years old no one has the descriptive words to express such an abstract feelings. Once she was regulated which involved getting some relief, she needed to share a message to process what her mini- body had gone through.

Wooohoo!!! Meet and Greet went as planned!! My young soon to be client did not want to go home. That’s what I want to see because in 20 minutes we started rapport building culminating in engagement!!

Thank you Dolly!

Dolly Parton’s legacy lives on in Montgomery County through her Imagination Library, which has distributed over 180,000 free books to about 8,000 local children since 2015. We are grateful for her lifelong commitment to literacy and children. Rest in peace, Dolly.

Today, our Mario Kart team was not doing so well during the Grand Prix. We were frustrated, we kept missing the boxes with the power ups, and Wario kept shrinking us. The bubbles were nearby, my client picked them up and began to blow. We both began to use our separate bubbles to take a deep breath before blowing out slowly so we could get out as many bubbles as possible. Because now we were in a race!

During the game, I co-regulated with my client by naming their feeling and modeling the language, “this game is frustrating today! I’m holding my breath at each turn!” I didn’t offer bubbles, I didn’t try to make it better, the bubbles were just there. Suddenly we were regulating together by using breath work with a tool that makes sense for my client.
