After having a baby, there are many things that are normal and many that may need some attention. Having soreness and heaviness at the pelvic floor is normal. In fact, 50% of women have some degree of prolapse after their birth, but it usually resolves after 3-6 months. Also, some women have a diastasis recti (a split lengthwise at the abdominal muscle), but that also can resolve with time. However, it is a good idea to see a pelvic health physical therapist, who can examine the pelvic floor muscles, abdominals, and the fascia surrounding the abdomen so you can resume normal activities w/o weakness, pressure or pain.
