Chronic headaches that start the moment you open your eyes are worth paying attention to.

The neck is one of the most common and overlooked sources of recurring head pain. Muscle tension, joint restriction, and nerve involvement at the base of the skull can all refer pain forward into the face and temples.

Many people spend years treating the symptom and never address where it begins.

At Advanced Physical Medicine, we look at the full picture. That includes your cervical spine, your posture, and the patterns that keep the pain cycling back.

If morning headaches are part of your daily routine, that routine can change.

That muscle knot that comes back no matter how much you stretch or foam roll. It has a name: a trigger point.

A trigger point is a contracted band of muscle fiber that refuses to release on its own. It radiates pain outward, mimicking neck tension, shoulder aches, or upper back tightness.

Stretching and massage can soften the area around it. They rarely break the contraction at the source.

Trigger point injections work differently. A small amount of solution goes directly into the contracted band. The muscle releases. The referred pain pattern quiets down.

Our board-certified nurse practitioners assess exactly where the knot is and what is driving it before a single injection is placed. That is what a personalized plan actually means.

If you have been managing the same recurring knot for weeks or months, it may be worth a conversation.

“Your imaging looks normal.” So why are you still in pain?"

It’s possible to have a normal MRI or X-ray and still experience significant, ongoing pain.

One potential factor is central sensitization - when the nervous system becomes more sensitive and starts amplifying pain signals, even after the original tissue has healed.

That means your pain is real, even when the scan doesn’t tell the whole story.

At Advanced Physical Medicine in Gilbert, we look beyond the image to understand the bigger picture - including how your nervous system may be responding.

Because a “normal” scan doesn’t always mean you should feel normal.

Feeling fine after a car accident? That can change.

Neck, shoulder, and upper-back pain doesn’t always show up right away. It’s common for soreness and discomfort to become more noticeable 24-72 hours after a crash

So if you felt okay at the scene but aren’t feeling so great now, don’t ignore it.

At Advanced Physical Medicine in Gilbert, we take post-accident injuries seriously and take the time to understand what’s going on.

Cash, insurance, and personal injury liens accepted.

If something doesn’t feel right after a crash, we’re here to help.

Peer-reviewed research published in 2025-2026 confirms what many chronic pain patients already feel but rarely hear addressed in a clinic: poor sleep is not just a side effect of pain, it actively makes pain worse.

Adults sleeping fewer than 6 hours per night report significantly higher pain intensity scores than those sleeping 7 to 9 hours. Sleep deprivation also reduces the brain's endogenous opioid response, meaning the body's own pain-dampening system weakens. For people already managing back pain, neck pain, or fibromyalgia, clinically diagnosed insomnia makes the cycle harder to escape.

At Advanced Physical Medicine, sleep quality is part of how we look at chronic pain recovery. Swipe through and save this one if the 3 AM ceiling stare feels familiar.

She used to love getting outside and staying active.

Then the sciatica started - the sharp, shooting pain from the low back down through the leg that made every step feel like a negotiation.

For a lot of people in Gilbert, that pain can quietly take away the routines and activities they’ve enjoyed for years.

Sciatica is one of the most common conditions we see, and it can often be treated without surgery or medication.

Many patients are able to get back to the walks, workouts, and activities they thought they had to give up.

If that familiar ache has been following you around, we’re here to help figure out where it’s actually coming from.

You rested it. You went to physical therapy. Maybe you tried injections.

The pain improved a little, then leveled off.

That plateau is not a verdict on your body. It may simply mean the tissue needs a different kind of signal.

Regenerative medicine works with your body's own repair process. Treatments like PRP use what your blood already carries to prompt healing at the tissue level, without surgery and without a hospital referral.

For many patients in Gilbert and Queen Creek who have been managing chronic joint pain, back injuries, or soft-tissue damage, this is the option that finally moves the needle.

If you have been wondering whether there is something beyond rest and standard care, we are glad to talk through what regenerative medicine looks like for your specific condition.

New research is showing promising results for ultrasound-guided PRP in patients with partial rotator cuff tears, including shoulder function scores comparable to surgical treatment at 12 months in one comparative study.

PRP may also offer a shorter return-to-activity timeline in some patients.

The key? Results can vary based on platelet concentration and treatment protocols.

Before making a decision about shoulder surgery, know your options. Swipe through to learn more and save this post for later.

At Advanced Physical Medicine, we’re here to help you understand your options and find the right approach for you.

When pain just won’t go away, “just give it time” isn’t always the answer.

Shockwave Therapy uses targeted acoustic energy to stimulate circulation and support the body’s natural healing process - without injections or downtime.

It may be a helpful option for certain stubborn soft-tissue and musculoskeletal conditions that haven’t responded to other treatments.

The first step? Finding out why the pain is sticking around and whether Shockwave Therapy is right for you.

At Advanced Physical Medicine, we’ll help you understand your options and create a treatment plan built around your needs.

What is actually causing my back pain?

That is one of the most common searches we see from patients in the East Valley of Arizona.

The honest answer: a standard X-ray shows structure. It does not show function. It cannot tell you which spinal segment is not moving correctly or which nerve is under pressure.

The Pro Adjuster can.

A handheld electronic instrument reads each vertebral segment and charts the findings graphically on a monitor. We see exactly where the problem is before the first adjustment is made.

Then treatment targets that precise location using gentle Resonant Force Impulses. No twisting. No cracking.

Many patients with chronic back pain, neck pain, and headaches report relief after a course of Pro Adjuster care.

If you have been living with pain that standard care hasn’t resolved, a computer-guided evaluation is a reasonable next step.
