Have you aged off your parents' health insurance? If that's the case, it's time to enroll in your own plan.

Understanding words like deductible, coverage and out-of-pocket maximum are important, but so is finding a primary care doctor. Dr. Adrianna Moum at Sanford Health says that the hardest step is seeing the doctor for the first time. With each subsequent visit, the scariness of seeing a new provider will decrease.

Fall back not only means an hour of extra sleep, but it is also a perfect reminder for cooler weather safety hacks.

Jody Jordet with Sanford Health recommends not letting your car warm up in an attached garage, even if the door is open. Carbon monoxide poisoning can feel like the flu, with initial symptoms ranging from headaches to nausea.

Also remember to change out the batteries in the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home. For more timely reminders, visit: https://bit.ly/4epjf2f

Supporting teen mental well-being has never been more important, and Sanford Fit is stepping up with a powerful new resource designed to meet teens where they are.

Developed with experts from Sanford Health, "What's on My Mind: A Teen's Guide to Thinking, Feeling, and Figuring Things Out," is a mental health workbook that gives teens a safe, approachable space to explore their emotions, practice evidence-informed coping strategies, and build confidence in caring for their mental wellness: https://san.fo/4s0UZbY

Online community survey responses are a key data set for the CHNA and provide insight into population health determinants, such as behavioral factors, environmental factors, socioeconomic factors, and access to quality healthcare. This data is used to help identify health priorities to build a healthier community.

Social media can be a great way for teens and pre-teens to stay connected with friends, family and others with common interests in addition to playing a role in developing relationships, identities, coping strategies and beliefs.

Recent research from Pew Research Center (December 2025) found that 36% of teens use at least one of five major online platforms almost constantly.

"It's important to set boundaries for your children like you would with any other social interaction or situation," said Dene Hovet, associate behavioral health counselor for Sanford Health.
