Willie doesn’t come to Rock Steady Boxing because he’s training for a heavyweight title. He comes because he’s giving Parkinson’s a run for its money.

For Willie, every class is a commitment to keep moving. What started as an exercise program has become something much bigger: a community, a source of confidence, and a place where determination shows up again and again. The punches matter. The drills matter. But the real victory is showing up and refusing to let Parkinson’s define the next chapter.

Parkinson’s may have changed the fight, but for Willie, it doesn’t get the final round!

Rock Steady Boxing for Parkinson’s is more than exercise it’s movement, connection, and community. Building strength, confidence, and support one round at a time.

Teachers make up many of our residents. What makes it special is how they bring the same patience and understanding they once used in the classroom into everyday life here. So, while they may not have a lesson plan anymore… they’re still shaping the room, building connections, and making people feel seen.

Because they didn’t stop teaching. They just changed classrooms.

Hydration is daily care, simple, essential, and easy to overlook.

Drinking enough keeps kidneys healthy, energy up, and UTIs at bay. We make hydration a habit, woven seamlessly into daily life. A few sips with meals. With meds. Between activities. A favorite cup, a splash of lemon, whatever makes it easy and enjoyable.

Make it routine. Start early. Sip often. Keep it simple.

Meet Wanda. A nurse. A storyteller. A reminder that the heart of healthcare doesn’t retire.

Wanda spent 45 years at the bedside. Now, she’s on the other side of it. What started as a practical choice turned into a cross-country career full of one thing: people who mattered. This Nurses Appreciation Month, we’re celebrating the ones who never stopped being who they are.

You can retire from nursing. You can’t retire from caring. After 45 years, Wanda knows the difference between care that’s given… and care that’s felt. At Edgewood Healthcare, she found it.You can retire from nursing. You can’t retire from caring.45+ years. ER. Surgery. OB.Wanda has seen it ...

Some moments don’t feel like endings… they feel like quiet invitations to begin again.

For Janet, that moment came after an ankle injury made it harder to manage the six-bedroom home she had loved for years. What she really needed wasn’t more space. It was support, connection, and people around her again.

With her daughter by her side, she explored assisted living. The moment she walked into Edgewood Hawks Point, she felt it warmth, kindness, and a true sense of home.

“I knew I would be in a good place.”

Now, her days are filled with friendships, activities, and meaningful moments and she’s often the first to welcome someone new.

Janet turns 94 this June, a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to start a new chapter.

And if you ask her? She’ll tell you, "I Wish I Would Have Moved Sooner.’”

"We need a place for Mom… and Medicaid needs to start NOW."

If only it worked like that. Medicaid isn’t a sprint it’s a marathon with paperwork.

But planning early? That’s the game‑changer. Our teams walk families through the process long before the crisis moment hits.

Less chaos. More clarity. Better outcomes.

Many families start the Medicaid conversation when they’re already in crisis, but the process takes time. Understanding the basics and planning ahead can make all the difference when care is needed.

Hard work shaped Sally’s life from the very beginning.

Raised on a cattle farm in Minnesota, Sally learned early that showing up and putting in the work mattered. She left home at 16 to work in Michigan factories, later returning to Brainerd where she became the first female bartender in the Brainerd Lakes area. She saved every nickel, joined a women’s softball league that went to Nationals twice, and never lost her love for sports.

Family and education have always been close to Sally’s heart. She encouraged her children to dream big and gave back in a remarkable way, donating $600,000 toward school scholarships so others could do the same.

Stories like Sally’s are what make our communities, like Edgewood Senior Living Brainerd, extraordinary. She’s known for her big heart, strong values, and the way she treats staff like family, because to her, they are.

We are better because she’s here.

Different generations. Same heart. Turns out the generation gap isn’t as wide as we think. At Edgewood, volunteering has no age limit; it’s simply about showing up, pitching in, and connecting.

This National Volunteer Month, we’re celebrating everyone who brings their heart, humor, and willingness to help. Because, these are the moments where bonds are formed, wisdom is passed down, and joy shows up in the most unexpected ways.

At Edgewood, volunteering isn’t about age - it’s about heart. Join us this National Volunteer Month and see how giving back can brighten lives.

Love has a way of finding its way through every season of life.

At Edgewood Sartell, Artie and her daughter Rosemarie share a bond that remains strong, even as memory changes. Both call our memory care community home, where familiarity, comfort, and compassionate care surround them each day.

You can often find Artie and Rosemarie sitting side by side, sharing a quiet moment, enjoying a meal, or taking part in an activity together. Even when words are hard to find, their connection is deeply felt.

Their story is a great reminder that memory care is about more than just support. It’s about honoring relationships, preserving dignity, and creating a place where love is always recognized.
