Whether providing hands-on care, offering reassurance during difficult moments, or sharing a smile, our CNAs make a meaningful difference every day. Their commitment to serving others with kindness and respect embodies the heart of hospice care.

Thank you for the exceptional care, support, and compassion you provide. We are honored to work alongside such remarkable caregivers and are grateful for all that you do.

Emmanuel Hospice's Director of Patient Care, Susan Mott, speaks to how we walk alongside families navigating dementia, and the benefit of learning early on about what hospice care can do to support your loved one.

“There can be a misconception that hospice is only meant for the final days of life and is sometimes perceived as ‘giving up’ on a person,” she said. “But one of the most common things we hear from families is that they wish they had reached out sooner because of the comfort, quality of life, dignity and support hospice care provided for everyone involved.”

“Our team understands dementia and can make care easier. We talk with families about what to expect, what is normal and how we can work together to handle these things. Beyond symptom management, we are always looking for warning signs of infections. We evaluate the home environment for safety. We help caregivers understand changes in nutrition, comfort and behavior, and serve as an extra layer of support.”

Many people are surprised to learn that a dementia diagnosis can qualify someone for hospice, Emmanuel Hospice says.

For Shanee, a perfect day meant spending time with the people who have stood by her side throughout her journey.

Through Emmanuel Hospice’s patient wish program, Shay was able to enjoy a special day centered around friendship, fun and some of her favorite things — including seeing her friend Marley perform downtown, sharing lunch with her close-knit group of friends, and ending the day with a private screening of the sequel to her all-time favorite movie, The Devil Wears Prada at Celebration Cinema North.

When Shay and her entourage arrived at the theater, they were surprised to learn a private screening was reserved for them, complete with popcorn, drinks and other concessions to their hearts’ content. It was the perfect end to a relaxing day with loved ones.

We’re so grateful to Celebration Cinema and the staff at Celebration North for helping make this memorable experience possible, and to Bloom Credit Union, sponsor of Emmanuel Hospice’s patient wish program, for supporting meaningful moments like these for the patients and families we serve.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

We are deeply grateful for their courage, sacrifice, and commitment, and we recognize the lasting impact they have made on their families, communities, and our nation. As we gather with loved ones this weekend, we encourage everyone to take a moment of reflection in their honor.

May we never forget their service and the freedom it helps preserve.

One of the most common questions we hear is: “How can I pay for hospice?”

The answer may surprise you. Hospice care is typically covered by Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, or other benefits, so there is often no direct cost to patients and their families.

At Emmanuel Hospice, we do the work for you, helping determine eligibility, navigating coverage options, and bringing compassionate care wherever you call home.

If you or a loved one may benefit from additional support, we're here to answer your questions and guide you through every step.

This Nurses Week, we pause to recognize the extraordinary professionals who define the heart of Emmanuel Hospice.

Our nurses bring clinical excellence, compassion, and dignity into some of life’s most profound moments. They guide patients and families with steadiness and grace, ensuring comfort, honoring choices, and offering reassurance when it is needed most. Their work extends far beyond care delivery - it is a commitment to presence, empathy, and respect for every individual journey.

At Emmanuel Hospice, we see every day how our nurses elevate the standard of care and embody our mission in action. Their dedication strengthens families, uplifts colleagues, and leaves a lasting impact on our community.

To each of our nurses: thank you for your expertise, your resilience, and the humanity you bring to your work. We are deeply grateful.
