A Foundation for What’s to Come

September 4 marked an important moment in the story of Hospital Yojoa as we gathered for our groundbreaking ceremony.

Looking at the excavation and construction underway, it would be easy to see only the beginning of a building. But for us, this ground represents so much more.

It represents years of hard work by many hands. It represents prayers prayed long before construction could begin, prayers answered along the way, and God’s provision through circumstances and people we never could have anticipated.

One of the greatest examples of that provision has been the community He has brought around this project.

We were grateful to gather alongside Honduran physicians from the public and private sectors, members of ministries and nonprofit organizations, government officials, pastors, engineers, lawyers, friends, families, and many others who have contributed to this journey in different ways.

Hospital Yojoa would not be where it is today without people willing to believe in the vision, offer their expertise, pray, give, encourage, and serve alongside us.
But ultimately, Hospital Yojoa is not about constructing a building.

We are working toward a place where people can receive compassionate, high-quality healthcare and encounter the hope of Christ through the way they are served.
Several months ago, our teammate Dr. Esohe Iyamu shared a vision that has stayed with us:

“I want more people to have entered the Kingdom of God when they pass because this hospital exists.”

Those words capture something at the heart of what we hope Hospital Yojoa will become.

The concrete and steel will form the physical foundation of this hospital. But faith, service, compassion, excellence, and the people God has brought together will shape the institution built upon it.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has helped bring Hospital Yojoa to this moment, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.

May what is built here serve this community for generations to come.
To God be the glory.

A hospital begins long before the first patient walks through its doors.

It begins with a vision, with preparation, and with countless steps that may seem small on their own, but together, are building toward something much bigger.

At Hospital Yojoa, every step we take today is preparing the way for the care families will receive tomorrow. And while there is still a journey ahead, each milestone brings us closer to a future where compassionate, Christ-centered healthcare is closer to the communities of the Lake Yojoa region.

This is the future we’re building, one step at a time.

What does it mean to you to have quality healthcare closer to home?

There is a lot of work that happens before a hospital ever looks like a hospital.

Before there are patient rooms, medical equipment, or doors ready to open, there are days like this, preparing the land, developing infrastructure, solving challenges, and completing the foundational work that everything else will depend on.

These moments may not always look like major milestones, but they are part of what turns a vision into something tangible.

Hospital Yojoa is still being built, and we have a long journey ahead. We’re grateful for every person putting their hands to the work and for everyone who continues to believe in what is being built for the Lake Yojoa region.

This is the work behind the vision, and every step prepares the way for what comes next.

Why Lake Yojoa?
It’s a question we’re asked often.

Choosing where to build a hospital is about more than finding a location. It means understanding the people who call that region home, the realities families face when seeking care, and how a new hospital can serve alongside the healthcare system already in place.

For Hospital Yojoa, that place is the Lake Yojoa region.
Our vision is to help bring compassionate, high-quality healthcare closer to families while building relationships, collaborating with others, and serving with Christ at the center.

The hospital is still being built, and there is much work ahead. But knowing why we are here gives purpose to every step along the way.

Take a few moments to explore the story behind why Hospital Yojoa is being built here.

Then share this post with someone who would want to follow this journey with us.

Access to healthcare is more complex than having a hospital nearby.
Through her work in communities across Honduras, Dr. Esohe Iyamu has seen how distance, cost, transportation, and availability can determine whether someone receives care, or has to keep waiting.

And sometimes, waiting means getting sicker before getting help.
It’s a difficult reality, but one worth understanding.

As Hospital Yojoa takes shape, stories and experiences like these remind us that building healthcare is not only about bringing care closer. It’s about understanding what can stand between a person and the care they need.

Because care can exist, and still be out of reach.

What we build matters.
But how we build it, and what guides us along the way, matters just as much.

Long before Hospital Yojoa welcomes its first patient, we want the foundation of this mission to be clear.

Our values guide the decisions we make today and the kind of hospital we are working toward for tomorrow.

They shape our commitment to Christ-centered service, high-quality medical care, responsible stewardship, honesty, collaboration, and education.

As construction and preparation continue, these principles will help guide how we work with our partners, communicate with our supporters, serve our community,
and eventually care for patients throughout the Lake Yojoa region.

We invite you to look through the values guiding Hospital Yojoa and learn more about the heart behind this mission.

Which of these values connects most deeply with you?

Hospital Yojoa is not open yet, but there is a lot happening as
we prepare for the future.

On site, ground clearing and excavation are underway as we prepare for the foundations of the hospital.

Beyond the construction site, work is also moving forward on the infrastructure the hospital will eventually depend on. Our three-phase electrical expansion project continues, helping prepare for reliable power for future hospital operations, while fabrication and assembly of the steel structure have begun off-site.

Some progress is easy to see. Other progress happens behind the scenes. Both are essential to what we're building.

There is still a long way to go before Hospital Yojoa can open its doors, and we want to be transparent about where the project stands along the way.
We’re not open yet. But step by step, the vision is taking shape.

Save this update and follow along as we continue sharing
the progress of Hospital Yojoa.

For Dr. Hannah Anderson, preparing for Hospital Yojoa means more than preparing to practice medicine, it means learning from the people already serving here.

As Hospital Yojoa continues to take shape, Hannah has had opportunities to serve alongside local healthcare providers, listen to their experiences, and learn more about the realities families and medical professionals face in Honduras.

These relationships matter.
Because our goal isn’t to arrive with all the answers. It’s to listen, learn, work alongside others, and prepare to serve the Lake Yojoa region with care that truly understands the community.

We’re grateful for healthcare professionals like Hannah and for the local providers who continue to share their knowledge, experience, and heart for their communities with us.

This is part of how Hospital Yojoa is being built, through people, relationships, and a shared desire to serve well.

Follow our journey as we continue preparing for the future of Hospital Yojoa.

Progress is often built in moments like this.

Before Hospital Yojoa can open its doors, there are countless steps happening behind the scenes to prepare for what’s ahead.

Infrastructure. Partnerships. Planning. People coming together with a shared purpose.

Each step may look different, but they are all moving toward the same vision: bringing compassionate, quality healthcare closer to families in the Lake Yojoa region.
We’re grateful for every person helping make that vision possible and for everyone following this journey as it continues to take shape.

There is still more to build, but every step forward matters.
