Graveside services for Rhonda Lynn Womack Leonard, 62, of Valley Springs, CA, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Whitehouse Cemetery, Whitehouse, TX, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.

Rhonda passed away August 18, 2026, in Stockton, CA. She was born December 19, 1963, in Dallas, to Carl Rex Womack, Sr. and Beauton Hudson Womack. Rhonda is preceded in death by her mother, Beauton “Bea” Womack.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Leonard of San Andreas, CA; father, Carl “Rex” Womack, Sr. of Allen; daughter, Olivia Leonard of Valley Springs, CA; brother, Rex Womack of Leonard; three sisters, Brenda Hayes of Whitehouse, Donna Brock of Princeton, and Denita Lowe of Melissa; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Rhonda had a caring heart and found great joy in helping others. She loved animals and especially treasured her pets, who held a special place in her heart. Her favorite color was purple, and roses were her favorite flower. Rhonda will be remembered for her love for her family, her kindness toward others, and the special way she cared for those around her. Rhonda’s biggest joy in life was her daughter Olivia. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and we wish her nothing but eternal peace in the arms of our Lord and Savior.

Norma Jean Thompson

Services for Norma Jean Thompson, 95, of Fruitvale, are scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, September 11, 2026, at First Baptist Church, Fruitvale, with Pastor Freddy Burden and Pastor Gary Vaughn officiating, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.

Interment will be in Haven of Memories Cemetery, Canton.

Norma Jean passed away September 7, 2026, at her home in Fruitvale. She was born March 7, 1931, in Van Zandt County, to Jesse H. & Carrie C. Owens Boddie. She spent all her life in the Van Zandt County area where she was a member of First Baptist Church, Fruitvale. Norma Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 47 years, L.V. Thompson; three sons, Virgil Wayne Thompson, Gary Don Thompson, and Larry Dale Thompson; one daughter-in-law, Becky Thompson; one son-in-law, Mike Higginbotham; six brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Higginbotham of Grand Saline; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Thompson (Gerald) of Fruitvale; June Brown of Donie; eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Chad (Tracy), Kristi (Scott), Ashley (James), Carrie (Brandon), Corey (Dee), Emilia (Matt), and Addy (Bailey); fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, and one on the way; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Thompson, Corey Thompson, Jason Thompson, James Bowden, Brandon Longenbaugh, Kyler Fink, and Canyan Freeman.

Linda Jean Pianalto (Ruzicka)

Services for Linda Jean Ruzicka Pianalto, 79, of Sulphur Springs, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba, with Dr. Zach Tunnell officiating.

Interment will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Alba.

Mrs. Pianalto passed away September 7, 2026, in Sulphur Springs. Linda was born September 21, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio, to George and Annabelle Mertz Ruzicka. She married the love of her life, Duane Pianalto, on January 17, 1976, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they shared 50 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, family, and countless memories.

About a year ago, Linda and Duane moved from Royse City to the Sulphur Springs area, beginning a new chapter of their life together.

Linda was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murphy. She was a woman who found joy in the simple things. She loved playing card games, watching game shows, and traveling. She had a special way of enjoying time spent with the people she loved, and her family meant everything to her. Her dog, Jax, was also a very special part of her life and brought her tremendous companionship and happiness.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Ruzicka; and sister, Sharon Crain.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Duane Pianalto of Sulphur Springs; son, Scott Anthony Ekwall and wife Sharon of Allen; stepson, Danny Pianalto and wife Mary Kay of Atoka, Oklahoma; stepdaughter, Tracy Clark and husband Terry of Alba; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m., Wednesday, before the service.

Nadyne Taylor (Sanders)

Services for Nadyne Sanders Taylor, 93, of Emory, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba, with Chaplain Robert Stovall officiating.

Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery, Alba.

Mrs. Taylor passed away September 3, 2026, in Quitman. She was born June 15, 1933, in Alba, to Joseph William and Maisy Hass Sanders. On January 16, 1953, Nadyne married the love of her life, Billy Taylor, in Alba. Together, they built a life and a home in Emory, where they lived for the last 45 years. Their 55 years of marriage were filled with family, hard work, laughter, and memories that will remain with those who loved them.

Nadyne was a member of the Quinlan Chapter #170 Order of the Eastern Star and was deeply devoted to her family. She was a woman who loved life and stayed active well beyond what most would expect. She was a pitcher who truly loved softball—not only playing the game, but coaching and sharing her love of it with others. She continued playing until she was 60 years old. She also enjoyed the outdoors. She loved fishing and arrowhead hunting with her sister and best friend Linda.

Nadyne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Taylor; great-grandson, Holden Sisk; brother, Charlie Joe Sanders; and sisters, Linda Ann Sanders and Mary Jo Sanders.

Survivors include her three daughters, Karen Craver and husband Rob of Mineola, Susan Brown and husband Paul of Quinlan, and Billie Hubbard and husband Mike of Royce City; two brothers, Rabon “Scooter” Sanders of Denton and Billy Sanders of Golden; two sisters, Katie Thornton of Winnsboro and Madie Reid of Mineola; six grandchildren, Lorissa, Kyla, Michael, Trent, Kristen, and Taylor; five great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Trent Sisk, Michael Hubbard, Chris Doyle, Kennin Doyle, Jason Molina, and Chandler Swinford.

Honorary pallbearers are Carter Sisk and Grayson Sisk.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m., Tuesday, before the service at the funeral home.

Kathy Sue Farrar (Giles)

Mrs. Kathy Sue Giles Farrar, 72, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at her residence in Alba.

She was born October 24, 1953, in Dallas to Charles and Billie Ruth Baker Giles. Kathy moved from Seagoville to the Alba area in 1984, where she made her home and became a beloved member of the community and a member of Bright Star Baptist Church.

Kathy was raised by Harley and Billie Middleton. She graduated from Seagoville High School Class of 1972. Kathy enjoyed sewing and playing games, but above all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. She worked as a secretary for the Alba-Golden Independent School District for more than 20 years before retiring.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Farrar; and four brothers, Buster Giles, Donny Middleton, Dood Middleton, and Steve Middleton.

Kathy is survived by her sons, Wayland Fortner and wife, Natalie, of Mineola, Don Fortner and wife, Tina, of Quitman, and Chuck Harris of Dallas; daughter, Jennifer Mink and husband, Cameron, of Henderson; brothers, Joe Giles and wife, Kathe, of Seagoville, and Jerry Giles of Seagoville; sisters, Traci Burge of Alba, Janice Hughes and husband, Larry, of Groesbeck, and Sharon Minter of Groesbeck; eleven grandchildren, Emily, Coleson, Bryar, Brian, Stephanie, Mason, Alyssa, Gabe, Samantha, Matthew, and Luke; great-grandson, Damian; great-niece, Emma Burns; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Kathy is scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Bright Star Baptist Church in Alba, with Bro. Andrew Grills officiating, under the direction of the church and family.

Sue Nell Landaverde-Lopez (Tippett)

Graveside services for Sue Nell Tippett Landaverde-Lopez, 66, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Creagleville Cemetery, with Bro. Donnie Herring officiating, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.

Sue passed away August 20, 2026, in Tyler. She was born December 21, 1959, in Grand Saline, to Ted and Sudie Mae Harris Tippett. She was a lifelong resident of Grand Saline and attended church at the Nazarene Chapel. Sue enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Costantino Landaverde; and her brother, William Tippett.

Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Rocael Lopez of Grand Saline; daughter, Maria Serrano and husband Mario of Grand Saline; two granddaughters, Alma Tamayo and Selena Vasquez and husband Melvin all of Grand Saline; two great-grandchildren, Leilani Vasquez and Gionni Vasquez; sister, Molly Tippett; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Dana Marie Wright

Dana Marie Wright, 67, of Lone Oak, passed away August 11, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born July 17, 1959, in Marrero, Louisiana, to Robert Joseph and Joyce Ann Savoie Sevin. Dana spent most of her life in Midland, where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School with the Class of 1977. She married Monte Wright on July 22, 1978.

Dana and Monte also lived in Longview for several years before moving to Lone Oak eight years ago. She retired from Sam’s Club after 17 years of service and later spent several years working in home healthcare.

One of Dana’s favorite places to visit with her family was Grand Isle, Louisiana. She had recently returned there for her birthday, where she enjoyed one of her favorite pastimes—beachcombing for "lucky beans".

She was a true spitfire—strong-willed, fiercely independent, and never afraid to speak her mind. She loved deeply, lived life on her own terms, and had a personality that could fill any room. Those who knew her knew exactly where they stood, and those lucky enough to be loved by her knew just how fiercely she loved. Her strength, wit, stubborn streak, and unforgettable spirit will be deeply missed.

Dana Marie is preceded in death by her father, Robert Joseph Sevin; and her in-laws, Maxine Henderson and Robert Henderson.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Monte Wright of Lone Oak; mother, Joyce Sevin of Lafayette, LA; son, David Wright (Diana Noth) of Lone Oak; daughter, Melissa McClure (Brock) of Katy; daughter-in-law, Sue Wright of Ft. James Dennis Brown

Services for James Dennis Brown, 74, of Alba, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2026, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba, with Pastor Edward Crouch officiating.

James Dennis Brown passed away August 7, 2026, unexpectedly, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a love that will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He was born June 28, 1952, in La Porte, TX, to the late James Dalton and Ruth Haley Brown.

Dennis was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Doreen Brown, and a man who loved his family more than anything in this world. His family was his greatest pride and joy. He treasured the time spent with them, the memories they made together, and the simple moments that meant so much.

Dennis was a hardworking mechanic who spent many years working with his hands and helping others. He was a man who knew how to fix things, but more importantly, he was someone his family could always count on.

When Dennis wasn’t working, you could often find him doing something he loved. He enjoyed watching sprint car racing, riding motorcycles, and especially loved Harley-Davidson. There was something special about seeing Dennis out riding, doing what he loved and enjoying the freedom of the open road.

But beyond the mechanic, the motorcycle rider, and the racing fan was a man who simply loved his family. His greatest joy was being a husband, father, and grandfather. The love he had for his family was evident in the way he cared for them, supported them, and made memories with them.

Dennis’ passing was unexpected, and his absence will be felt in ways that words cannot fully express. There will be an empty place at family gatherings, memories that bring both smiles and tears, and countless moments when his loved ones will wish they could hear his voice, see his smile, or simply have one more day with him.

Though his time with us was not long enough, the love Dennis gave and the memories he created will never be taken away. His family will carry him with them—in their hearts, in their stories, and in all the little things that remind them of him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ruth Brown.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Doreen Brown of Alba; sons, Jimmy Brown and wife Kelley of Little Elm and Chris Brown and wife Patti of Forney; stepdaughters, Rebecca Clem and husband Coltyn of Alba and Nichole Wellman and husband Chad of Royse City; stepsons, Jeremy Bowen and wife Erin of Royse City and James Bowen and wife Patty of Caddo Mills; brother, Kenneth Brown and wife Beth of Norman, OK; sister, Linda Cox and husband Bobby of Mt. Vernon; eight grandchildren, Kala, Jason, Logan, Jacob, Cameron, Aubrey, Maddox, Delenn; five great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly and whose lives were made better simply by knowing him.

Dennis was deeply loved, and he will be deeply missed. His life may have ended unexpectedly, but the love he gave his family will continue for generations to come.

Until we meet again, Dad, Papa, and husband. Keep riding that Harley down the open road. You will forever be loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.

Pallbearers will be Jason Espinoza, Logan Brown, Jacob Brown, Coltyn Clem, Jimmy Brown, Chris Brown, Jeremy Bowen, and Caleb Huckaba.

Thomas Wayne Dickerson

Thomas Wayne Dickerson, 65, passed away on August 4, 2026, at his residence in Grand Saline, Texas.

Thomas was born on December 9, 1960, in Grand Saline to Daniel and Lois Fern Guinn Dickerson. A lifelong resident of Grand Saline, he graduated from Grand Saline High School with the Class of 1979.

Thomas spent many years working in construction, specializing in all types of floor covering. He enjoyed the friendship and fellowship he found at the Mineola VFW. An avid outdoorsman, Thomas loved fishing and hunting. Above all, he treasured his family, especially his grandchildren. He rarely missed an opportunity to attend their sporting events and took great pride in cheering them on. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved Labrador, Sassy.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Daniel Dickerson and Mark Dickerson.

He is survived by his loving companion, Patty Spence of Mineola; his two daughters, Courtney Harrell and husband Josh of Grand Saline and Shonda Dickerson of Mineola; two brothers, John Dickerson of Grand Saline and Matthew Dickerson and wife Amanda of Fruitvale; five sisters, Ann Clankie and husband Albert of Forney, Lisa Cobb and husband Sam of Edgewood, Pam Melton and husband Rodney of Alba, Loretta Pryor and husband John of Grand Saline, and Christel Turner and husband Shae of Forney; six grandchildren, Joslyn Harris, Aubrey Harrell, Maycee Russell, Tatum Harrell, Kori Morgan, and Larsen Harrell; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Benny Hollowell

Mr. Benny Nelson Hollowell, 87, of Grand Saline, passed away on July 31, 2026, in Tyler, Texas.

Benny was born on February 17, 1939, in Grand Saline to Arlie E. Hollowell and Ivy Green George Hollowell. He was a lifelong resident of Grand Saline, and a member of Sand Flat Baptist Church. He began his education at Sand Flat Baptist Church and graduated from Grand Saline High School with the Class of 1957. Benny served in the Texas National Guard and had ten months active duty at Ft. Polk, Louisiana, during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

On June 21, 1957, he married the love of his life, Lynda Kay Fisher, in Edgewood. Together they shared 69 years of marriage. Benny spent his entire life working the land, farming sweet potatoes and tomatoes. He proudly sold his produce locally and at the Dallas Farmers Market, where he was well known for his hard work and dedication.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Benny is survived by his beloved wife, Lynda Hollowell of Grand Saline; his son, Kyle Lane Hollowell and wife, Jacqueline, of McKinney; his daughter, Tammy Kay Herron and husband, Tommy, of Grand Saline; five grandchildren, Jason Hollowell and wife, Angela, Brandon Hollowell, Meghan Nations and husband, Layne, Kayleigh Hollowell, and Preston Hollowell; one great-granddaughter, Julia Hollowell; and numerous other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
