𓆃 ENTERING THE SEASON OF WEPET RENPET 𓆃
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘂𝘀 & 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿
July 31, 2026—our astronomical calculation places the predicted heliacal rising of Sirius here on Maui.
This morning was very overcast, and we did not attempt to observe the eastern horizon. Therefore, we are sharing July 31 as the date indicated by our calculation—not as a personally witnessed sighting.
A heliacal rising is the first visible appearance of a star before sunrise after it has been concealed for a period within the radiance of the Sun.
Although astronomical calculations can predict when this may occur, its actual visibility depends upon location, elevation, atmospheric clarity, the horizon and the conditions of the dawn sky.
And so today, we enter the sacred season of 𝗦𝗼𝗽𝗱𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 and 𝗪𝗲𝗽𝗲𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗽𝗲𝘁—𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿.
In ancient Kemet, Sirius was known as 𝗦𝗼𝗽𝗱𝗲𝘁, and her symbolism later became closely intertwined with 𝗔𝘀𝗲𝘁 (𝗜𝘀𝗶𝘀).
The reappearance of this luminous star before dawn became a powerful sign of renewal—connected with the life-giving inundation of the Nile, the regeneration of the land and the opening of a new cycle.
But here is something many people do not realize:
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆.
It is a place-based celestial event, unfolding beneath different horizons at different times.
Our calculation places the predicted heliacal rising here on Maui on 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟯𝟭.
For the Giza Plateau, our calculation places it on 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲—not August 8.
As with Maui, the actual visibility of Sirius from Giza will depend upon the atmospheric conditions and clarity of the eastern horizon that morning.
Sirius does not return everywhere at once.
Her light moves across the Earth like a wave of celestial remembrance—emerging beneath different horizons on different mornings.
There is something beautiful in this season of expectancy.
We cannot summon the star before she is ready to appear.
We can prepare ourselves to receive her light.
This is a time to honor what has reached completion.
A time to clear the inner waters.
A time to restore ourselves to 𝗠𝗮’𝗮𝘁—𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵, 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽.
A time to listen for what is ready to emerge within the new cycle.
On 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟴, one day after the calculated heliacal rising of Sirius at Giza, we will gather online for:
