"There are so many rewarding aspects to my job, which is why I enjoy it so much. But every person will have a handful of moments in their life that they will never forget. A day that they will consider one of the happiest days of their life and the birth of their child is often one of those days. I think it’s pretty amazing that I get to be there for “one of the happiest days” for many people." ~ Dr. Julie Viehmann

The afternoon rain didn’t dampen the fun at our 17th Annual Shoeless Joe’s Celebrity Golf Classic yesterday! Our Foundation once again partnered with the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame to bring sports celebrities and local donors together for a memorable day of golf, networking and community support at Norwoods Golf Course. The event, now 17 years strong, has raised over $1.2 million dollars for our local healthcare.

A special thank you to our Official Sponsor, Ken Greger and Steve Viorel of Raymond James Financial Services, who have supported this incredible event since the beginning and all our great donors who offer their support in many ways. We also offer our sincere appreciation to our amazing volunteers who kept everything running smoothly despite the rainy afternoon.

Thanks to the generosity of our major donors and participating teams, the Foundation raised more than $100,000 to support the Legacy of Hope Campaign, supporting cancer care and resources across northeast Missouri. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event another great success. And congratulations to the overall tournament champions - Hula Bowls - for the third year in a row!

For more than four decades, Deb Flevell has been a familiar face in the Radiology Department at Hannibal Regional Hospital. Originally planning to become a Registered Nurse, Deb's career path changed after learning that radiology plays a vital role in the care of nearly every patient who enters the hospital. Drawn to the opportunity to connect with people and make a difference in their healthcare journey, she pursued a career in Radiology.

Today, she enjoys working alongside the surgery team, providing radiology support for surgical procedures and patient care.

Life after cancer can be many things — complicated, beautiful, meaningful, triumphant, ordinary and extraordinary. Today, on National Cancer Survivors Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience and courage of cancer survivors in our communities and across the country. 💜

At Hannibal Regional, we are honored to walk alongside patients and families through every stage of the cancer journey - from diagnosis and treatment to survivorship and beyond. Every survivor’s story reminds us why access to high-quality cancer care close to home matters.

That’s why the Legacy of Hope campaign is so important. Through this campaign, we are raising funds to return radiation oncology services to the Kirksville area and provide upgrades at the Cary Cancer Center in Hannibal - helping ensure more patients can receive advanced cancer care close to the people and places they love most.

Today, we celebrate survivors, honor their journeys and continue working toward a future where compassionate, life-saving cancer care is available close to home for every patient who needs it.
