🎨 NO V**E NOVEMBER POSTER CONTEST! 🎨

Last year, students across our East Tennessee region turned in 232 posters, and alot of those came from Roane County! Even better, 2 of our own students took 1st and 2nd place in the region! 🏆 And went on to compete at state level at TNSTRONG SUMMIT!

This year, we want to go even bigger. Our goal is to get more Roane County students involved and bring home all three regional spots! 🥇🥈🥉

If you’re in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade, this is your chance to use your creativity to educate others about the dangers of va**ng.

🖍️ What can you make?
Create a hand-drawn educational poster focusing on one of these topics:
• Physical health
• Mental health
• Environmental impact

3 county winners will receive a 3D printer pen
Those county winners will move on to the region, where:

1st place wins a laptop
2nd place wins an iPad
3rd place wins a smartwatch

📋 A few important rules:
• Posters must be 22 × 28 inches
• Include at least 2 facts about the dangers of va**ng
• Use credible sources and list them on the back
• Include your name, grade, school, and citations on the back
• No digital art or AI-generated images
• One entry per student

📅 Deadline: November 9th

The top three posters in each county and region will be selected based on the contest rubric.

Let’s show the region what Roane County can do! If you have a student who loves to draw, create, or speak up about important issues, encourage them to enter. We’d love to see even more of our students represented this year!

Every grain of red sand represents a story—many painful, many unfinished, all deserving of attention. Between July 27 and August 2, organizations across Tennessee will join in this symbolic act, advancing a larger mission: to educate, act, and advocate. Awareness is only the first step. Ending trafficking requires
persistence, compassion, and collective determination.

An estimated 50 million people worldwide are thought to have experienced human trafficking.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s (TBI) 2024 Human Trafficking Statistical Report indicates that over the course of the last 7 years the number of human trafficking tips have dramatically increased from 722 in 2019 to over 1170 by 2024.

TDH invites partners across the state to organize human trafficking awareness events in the month of July by participating in the Red Sand Project.

What is the Red Sand Project?
The Red Sand Project is an interactive art exhibition designed to raise awareness of human trafficking. By spreading red sand in sidewalk cracks, the project brings attention to those who have “fallen through the cracks” in society.
