Some times I get in my head and think about all the things I take for granted. One of those things recently has been my mentor, supervisor and friend. There is not a question I can ask that he doesn’t have an answer to, he always always answers his phone and he puts up with all of my shenanigans!! So I thought I’d share a little bit about him with you as well, he definitely deserves to be appreciated.
Dr Akram Abraham has dedicated his life to serving the people of our community through compassionate medical care, leadership, and faith-based service. A graduate of Alexandria University, Dr. Abraham earned his medical degree before completing his residency training at Wichita Falls Family Practice Residency Program from 1997 to 2000.
Following residency, he served as an Assistant Professor at Texas West Medical Center in Dallas from June 2000 through June 2001, helping educate and mentor future healthcare professionals. In June 2001, Dr. Abraham began practicing medicine in Hollis, where he has faithfully served patients and families for more than two decades.
Beyond his medical practice, Dr. Abraham has been deeply involved in community leadership. He served on the local school board for five years and has contributed his expertise through service on the EMS Board. He also served as the Medical Director of Harmon Memorial Hospital and currently serves on the local Health Department Board, helping guide healthcare initiatives that benefit the entire community.
Dr. Abraham’s commitment to service extends beyond medicine. He is an active leader in his church, where he has served as Chairman of the Board, Youth Director, Financial Officer, and preacher. His dedication to faith, family, and community has made a lasting impact on countless lives.
In his personal life, Dr. Abraham married the love of his life in July 1994. Together they have been blessed with four daughters and recently welcomed two sons-in-law into their growing family. Family remains at the center of everything he does, and the values he shares at home are reflected in the care and compassion he provides to his patients every day.
For more than 25 years, Dr. Akram Abraham has been a trusted physician, mentor, community advocate, and servant leader. His unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others has made him an invaluable part of our community, and his legacy of service continues to inspire those around him.
