Researching family in Jayuya? One thing you may notice is that the available civil marriage records begin in 1911. When the civil records don’t take you far enough back, that’s when it’s time to jump into the church records! ⛪🔎
Puerto Rican historian and genealogist Orlando Reyes also recommends searching for Jayuya ancestors in neighboring Ciales and Utuado—an important reminder that our ancestors’ records may not always be found in the town we expect.
