We are there when it matters most, guiding families every step of the way with compassion and care.

Our mission is to bring hope, reduce fears and impact lives.

Hospice care is about living your end-of-life journey with dignity and comfort, and above all, it’s about choosing how you want to live for as long as possible. At Navian Hawaii, we are an ʻohana of trained and committed caregivers dedicated to helping patients and their families face this transition with hope and without fear, surrounded by unconditional love. The care we provide allows individuals to remain at home or in their chosen setting and to live life to the fullest with their loved ones. We care for the whole family by providing relief from physical, emotional, mental and spiritual suffering.

Halloween is all about bringing a little magic! 🎃🪄✨

Our pediatric care team is surprising our keiki patients with candies, snacks, toys and new plushie friends to love and keep close! Mahalo to our staff for putting these goodie bags together, and to PetSmart and Aloha United Way for donating these plushies.

Seasonal fun can make all the difference for the keiki and families we serve, and we’re so grateful to everyone who makes these magical moments happen!

Wishing you all a safe and happy Halloween!

At 66, pro skater Darren Ho is still chasing the feeling that first drew him to the sport as a teenager. 🛹

After stepping away for nearly four decades, he found the courage to return to the park and rediscovered the joy that never really left him. Now, he’s back on his board every week, sharing his experience and advice with the next generation of skaters.

For Darren, what matters most is knowing that age hasn’t taken away the feeling he gets from skating. He compares it to a surfer catching a great wave — that unmistakable glow. One good ride can mean a smile that lasts for weeks.

Pride in Every Breath celebrates the many ways the LGBTQIA+ community care for one another: supporting a partner through illness, caring for parents or kūpuna, showing up for chosen family, and more.

This storytelling project by Navian Hawaii and Hawai'i Health & Harm Reduction Center seeks to honor the quiet acts of compassion, resilience and connection that often go unseen, while preserving the stories that continue to shape our community.

More stories. More voices. More visibility.
Because every breath holds a story worth hearing.

The greatest gift we can give someone is our presence.

It’s a lesson Heather learned when her friend and mentor, Robin, was facing the end of life. Heather experienced the profound connection that can come from simply being there.

Robin also taught her that care isn’t about The Golden Rule - treating others the way we want to be treated - but about the way they want to be treated. She called this The Platinum Rule.

In the early years of the AIDS epidemic, hope was hard to find. But Dr. David McEwan believed in the power of sharing knowledge, showing up for people and making sure no one faced illness alone.

As a physician and co-founder of Life Foundation, now the Hawaiʻi Health & Harm Reduction Center, Dr. McEwan witnessed the fear and stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS firsthand. He also saw the strength of the LGBTQIA+ community and the importance of care rooted in compassion, dignity and understanding.

His message to caregivers is simple: Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Start a conversation. Get to know the person in front of you. Because when we break the ice, we make room for more honest conversations, deeper understanding and more compassionate care.

For Kunane and Frankie, 30 years of friendship have meant being there for the big moments, the difficult ones and everything in between. Neither sees it as an obligation. It’s simply what you do for someone you love.

Their story is a reminder that care doesn’t always need a title. Sometimes, it’s someone who shows up when you need a hand, calls just to check in, or makes sure you never have to go through something alone.

After all these years, they are still showing up for each other. No obligation. No keeping score. Just being there… because that’s what friends do.
