In this week’s He Momi, we reflect on ea—life, breath, respiration, and the ability to rise. King Kamehameha IV faced adversity overseas, the loss of his young son, and ongoing concerns for both his own health and the health of the people of Hawaiʻi. Yet through it all, he “kept his mana (spiritual strength) and ea strong,” setting forth a legacy that began with The Queen’s Hospital and continues today through The Queen’s Health Systems. 🤍

His commitment to caring for the people of Hawaiʻi continues to inspire the work we share at Queen’s each day.

Persistent swelling isn’t something you have to live with. 🤍

Queen’s North Hawai‘i Community Hospital Rehabilitation Services now offers specialized lymphedema therapy, led by Megan Gardner, PT, CLT, and Jevene Summers, PT, CLT. Together, they provide comprehensive evaluation and complete decongestive therapy, including manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, exercise and patient education to help patients regain comfort, mobility and confidence.

If you or a loved one are experiencing ongoing swelling, support is available—close to home.

Heart care is continuing to evolve at Queen’s. ❤️

Dr. Mahdi Veillet-Chowdhury, Clinical Cardiologist/Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging, and Kristen Polenz, Senior Director of Imaging Services, share how advanced coronary CT imaging is helping teams better understand heart disease earlier and more precisely—all through a single noninvasive test.

Proud of the multidisciplinary teams helping bring innovative, patient-centered care to Hawaiʻi.

At The Queen’s Health Systems, volunteers help bring our mission to life every day. Last year alone, Queen’s volunteers contributed more than 45,000 hours of service across our hospitals and facilities throughout Hawai‘i. From patient support and mentorship to comfort rounding and community outreach, their impact is felt across our communities every day. 💙

During Volunteer Appreciation Week, students, retirees, caregivers, and families shared stories of service, connection, and growth through the Queen’s volunteer program. Mahalo to every volunteer who continues to care for others and strengthen our Queen’s ‘ohana.

Mahalo to the students of ʻĀina Haina Elementary School for turning compassion into action. 💛

As part of their Grade 5 Exhibition project, students Analee, Lantana, Ray, and Cole researched carcinoma and raised donations to support cancer patients through Queen’s Cancer Center. We’re grateful for their generosity and the support of their school community. 🌟
