Spent some time today at Sam Mahelona Hospital on Kauai showing off the rotor and meeting some great people. It was awesome seeing everyone get up close, ask questions, and check it out for themselves. Plenty of smiles and good times all around!

On this Memorial Day, HLF pauses to honor those who gave their lives in service to the United States Armed Forces. Their courage, sacrifice and unwavering dedication to our nation will forever be remembered. We are grateful for their legacy and hold their families in our thoughts today.

Way to go, Jacob!

EMS is about showing up prepared to save lives and empower others to do the same. As a dual-purpose paramedic for AMR and a flight paramedic for REACH, Jacob Boteilho leads every patient encounter with a focus on safety, because immediate action can literally save lives.

One example of how these critical moments shaped Jacob was when he responded to an unexpected home birth. He says, “The call came without warning. An ordinary shift instantly transformed within the quiet of a home, without a delivery room or obstetrician, as life was about to enter the world. At that moment, I felt honored to serve others, and it made me realize that I had found that right career to be there for those in need.”

These are the critical moments that define EMS: when the planned becomes uncertain, when seconds matter and help must arrive wherever, whenever. Thank you, Jacob, for being ready to serve at a moment’s notice!
