Water's Edge Christian Counseling Counseling sessions offered with an integrated approach of clinical psychological counseling and biblical counseling. watersedgechristiancounseling.com

I help people struggling with mental, emotional, and spiritual health to process and implement psychological and spiritual skills so that they can have an abundant life. Standing on the Edge-
People around the world tend to flock to the shore line. Whether it’s the blue hues of the Gulf, Atlantic or Pacific, it is no different. There is something about sitting at the edge of a body of water that b

rings some calm to our lives. It is evidenced in music, poetry, and prose across time. There is a sense of liberation at its expanse, motivation at its rhythm, perspective at its quality, and restoration at its provision. But water is not always a source of rejuvenation. In volume, it can be intimidating and harmful. Are you sitting at the edge wondering how you will cross the expanse? How will you navigate the depths? Let’s go Together

The Christian Counseling difference

Counseling at Water's Edge Christian Counseling is conducted by a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate who is also trained in Biblical counseling. The therapy is an integrated approach of psychological technique and theory with prayer, scripture, and spiritual disciplines. The approach is under the belief that you are valuable and your emotions, thoughts, behaviors, biology, and spiritual formation/beliefs are woven together into a unique personality that makes your life purposeful. The therapy technique is eclectic, as it is customized to your circumstances and learning style, but lends toward cognitive behavioral therapy.

I have heard confessions of people in a moment of desperation, turning to AI with their mental health questions. It seems innocent enough.
The benefit of AI is that it includes all of the internet. The negative consequence of AI with mental health, is that it includes ALL of the internet… including inaccurate, and even harmful, sources. IT DOESN’T DISCERN WHICH SOURCE IT IS PULLING FROM.
It is also created to learn, which looks like affirming its human interface rather than discerning for real help, which is what we have seen in the news with detrimental consequences. It could be pulling from a source that you personally disagree with or negates your core values. IT DOESN’T DISCERN YOUR NEEDS OR VALUES.

Please feel free to contact me or another mental health clinician rather than turn to AI with your questions! If we don’t know the answer, we could at least point you in an informed direction.

“Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in an abundance of counselors there is victory.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭11‬:‭14‬ ‭

Sunshine in Seattle, be a cool breeze in July
Light in the darkness, I’ll be a garden
A garden in Manhattan
A flower in the concrete
If that’s where You want me

We like to divide our experiences into categories to understand them-
Is this a mental struggle? Emotional dysregulation? Spiritual warfare? Or did I just eat terribly yesterday causing weird dreams and interrupted sleep?

This is often a helpful approach when we are trying to figure out how to address a struggle, but we can short-change ourselves by only addressing something from one angle.

What if the issue affects all of it? Most often, that is the case!

That's the approach I take in my therapy practice based on Mark 12:30-
'And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
Mark 12:30

heart= emotion
soul= spirit
mind= mental (cognitive)
strength= physical body

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
