Krist Samaritan Counseling Center is a not-for-profit mental health care organization providing services at 10 locations throughout the greater Houston area - spanning Harris, Galveston, Brazoria, Montgomery, and Fort Bend Counties. Our services include:
*Faith sensitive counseling for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families
*Psychological, psychoeducational, and vocational testing
*Academic tutoring
*Irlen diagnostic screenings, overlays, and tinted glasses
*Speech language therapy
*Congregational care and support
*Pre- and post-graduate level professional training
*Continuing education and community training events

We accept most major insurance plans, including Tricare, Medicare, and Medicaid, and also provide services on an adjusted fee scale for individuals and families that are uninsured or under-insured.

In June, our very own Special Needs Representative, Julie Yaxley, had the privilege of presenting at the Irlen International Conference in Calgary!

Julie shared how Irlen colored glasses can help calm the visual cortex, supporting individuals with:

In Memory of Dr. Athena Patelis

We remember and honor Dr. Athena Patelis, whose compassion, dedication, and unwavering faith touched the lives of so many at the Krist Samaritan Center. Athena’s laughter, warmth, and energy left a lasting impression on her clients, colleagues, and community.

Funeral Arrangements – Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church:

10:00–11:00 AM – Viewing
11:00 AM – Funeral Service
12:00 PM – Makaria in Marinos Hall
1:45 PM – Burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. John Building Fund in Athena’s memory.

Her legacy of care, faith, and love continues to inspire us every day.
