This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our country. 🇺🇸

At Humanitas Hospice, we are privileged to care for veterans and support the families who carry their memories forward each day. Their stories, sacrifices, courage, and legacy deserve to be remembered with dignity and gratitude.

Today, we remember not only those we have lost, but the love, strength, and impact they leave behind.

At Humanitas Hospice, we know the most meaningful moments in healthcare happen when people come together.

This National Skilled Nursing Care Week theme, “Moments in Bloom,” beautifully reflects what happens when nurses, aides, social workers, facility staff, hospice teams, therapists, physicians, caregivers, and families support one another with compassion and purpose.

The best care is never provided by one person alone.
It grows through collaboration.
It strengthens through connection.
And it blooms when teams come together in support of both one another and the people we serve every day.

To our skilled nursing partners and every healthcare professional helping create moments of dignity, comfort, compassion, and humanity, thank you for all that you do. 🌸

As Nurses Week comes to a close, one thing is certain: superheroes are real, and we are lucky enough to work beside them every day. 💙🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

This week, Humanitas Hospice had the honor of celebrating our incredible nurses through a superhero-themed campaign that reflects not only the strength and compassion they bring to patient care, but also the unique human beings behind the scrubs. Each image represented something personal to them: the places they love, the passions they carry, the things that make them smile, and the hearts they pour into caring for others.

Because nursing is more than tasks, medications, and charting.
It is presence.
It is advocacy.
It is leadership.
It is emotional strength.
It is showing up for patients and families during some of the hardest and most meaningful moments in life.

To our Humanitas Hospice nurses, thank you for the compassion, courage, humor, teamwork, and humanity you bring into this work every single day. You make an immeasurable difference in the lives of our patients, families, community partners, and each other.

And to nurses everywhere, thank you for being the steady hands, the calm voices, the protectors, the educators, and the hearts of healthcare.

The capes may come off, but the impact you make never does. đź’š

This Nurses Week, we’re celebrating the superheroes behind the scrubs at Humanitas Hospice.

Hospice nursing is not easy work. It takes heart, resilience, compassion, leadership, patience, and the ability to walk beside patients and families during some of life’s most vulnerable moments. Our nurses do that every single day with strength and grace.

Led by our Director of Clinical Services, Brooke, this incredible team represents what hospice care should be: compassionate, connected, collaborative, and deeply human.

đź’š Brooke, RN, Director of Clinical Services
Leading with heart, guiding with purpose, and supporting both patients and staff through every challenge with compassion and strength.

đź’™ Nichole, RN, Admissions Nurse
Often the very first connection families have with hospice care, Nichole helps guide patients and loved ones through difficult transitions with warmth, reassurance, compassion, and understanding. She brings comfort, advocacy, and connection to every interaction while helping families feel supported from day one.

đź’š Andrea, RN
A steady and compassionate presence for patients and families, always willing to step in, lift others up, and make a difference where it matters most.

đź’™ Iris, RN
Driven by compassion, community, and purpose, providing thoughtful care and meaningful support to those navigating difficult journeys.

đź’š Umu, RN
A true advocate and caregiver whose warmth, professionalism, and dedication help patients and families feel seen, supported, and cared for.

đź’™ Tatiana, LPN
Strong, dependable, and compassionate, delivering hands-on care with heart while standing beside patients every step of the way.

At Humanitas Hospice, nursing is more than a profession, it’s a calling. We are grateful for the care, courage, and compassion this team brings into the lives of others every day.

At Humanitas Hospice, we believe all nurses are superheroes.

This Nurses Week, we want to thank nurses everywhere for their compassion, courage, strength, and selfless dedication to others. Day after day, nurses show up for patients and families during some of life’s most vulnerable and difficult moments. They are caregivers, advocates, educators, problem-solvers, and a steady presence when people need it most.

We especially want to recognize our hospice nurses, whose work goes far beyond medical care. Hospice nurses support not only patients, but also the people who love them. They provide education, comfort, guidance, reassurance, and compassionate care during some of the hardest moments a family will ever face.

To all nurses and healthcare professionals on the front lines, thank you for the sacrifices you make, the comfort you provide, and the lives you touch every single day. Your work matters more than words can express.

Happy Nurses Week from all of us at Humanitas Hospice. 💙💚

Not just comfort. Not just support.
But movement, energy, laughter, and connection.

Our Drum Fit sessions bring moments like this to life for patients in our partner facilities, creating engagement that you can see, feel, and hear.

Because at Humanitas, we believe quality of life isn’t optional, it’s essential.

Parkinson’s Care Takes a Team 🤝

Parkinson’s doesn’t affect just one part of life - it affects everything.

That’s why hospice care is never just one person.
It’s a team, working together to support both the patient and the family.

At Humanitas Hospice, care includes:

👩‍⚕️ Nurses
Managing symptoms, monitoring changes, and keeping patients comfortable

🩺 Physicians
Overseeing care and guiding medical decisions with compassion and expertise

🤍 Social Workers
Helping families navigate emotions, decisions, and resources

🙏 Spiritual Care Coordinators
Providing support, meaning, and peace during difficult moments

🛏️ Hospice Aides
Helping with personal care and bringing dignity to daily routines

Because Parkinson’s care isn’t just physical.
It’s emotional. It’s personal. It’s human.

And no one should have to navigate it alone.

What Does a Hospice Social Worker Actually Do?

March is Social Work Month, and it’s the perfect time to talk about a part of hospice care many people don’t fully understand.

Hospice social workers help families through some of the most emotional moments of life.

They help with difficult conversations.
They guide families through decisions.
They support caregivers who feel overwhelmed.
They connect patients with resources.
They sit with people when words are hard to find.

Sometimes what families need most is not medical care.
It’s reassurance.
It’s understanding.
It’s someone who knows how to walk beside them.

That is what hospice social work delivers.

At Humanitas Hospice, our social worker is a steady presence for patients and families every day, helping bring comfort, clarity, and peace when it matters most.

đź’™ March is Social Worker Month- and we are so grateful for Shanita Scott, MSW đź’™

At Humanitas Hospice, our work would not be the same without the compassion, strength, and dedication of our Social Worker, Shanita Scott, MSW.

Shanita brings calm into difficult moments, guidance when families feel overwhelmed, and steady support when decisions feel heavy. She walks beside our patients and families with patience, kindness, and a deep understanding of what people need most during some of life’s hardest times.

Whether she is helping a family navigate resources, offering emotional support, or simply sitting and listening, Shanita reminds us every day that hospice care is not only about medical care, it's about caring for the whole person, and the whole family.

We are so proud to have her as part of the Humanitas team, and we celebrate her this month for the incredible difference she makes in the lives of everyone she touches.

đź’™ Thank you, Shanita, for the heart you bring to this work every single day.

Hospice Myth of the Month

❌ MYTH: Choosing hospice means giving up.

âś… TRUTH: Choosing hospice means choosing comfort.
Choosing support.
Choosing quality time together.

It means managing pain so your loved one can rest.
It means having a team to call at any hour.
It means focusing on what matters most — being present, not being in and out of the hospital.

Hospice is not about giving up.
It’s about changing the goal from curing to caring.

And for many families, that changes everything. đź’™
