Jacob is the son of Frank, the Director of Culinary Services at Atria Bay Shore. He currently attends St. John's University and is pursuing a degree in Legal Studies.

The Boatman Scholarship honors the legacy of beloved Atria leader Ronnie Boatman and has awarded nearly $800,000 to help children of Atria employees pursue higher education.

We served it up New England style at our Taste of Cape Cod event.

We enjoyed clam chowder, shrimp and lobster rolls, potato chips and homemade broccoli slaw. And don’t forget about dessert – we had classic Boston cream pie!

To top it off, we watched the scary summer classic, Jaws!

We can't wait to see – and taste – the cuisine from our destination next month!

One of the greatest gifts in our communities is the wisdom our residents share every day.

When residents at Atria Forest Hills were asked what advice they would give younger generations, Selma, who was a teacher and librarian, shared, “Listen to your superiors and their suggestions for you. They've lived, and their advice could get you places." She added, "You can get insights from reading. So, read, read, read!"

With a lifetime of experience behind every word, reminders like these inspire us all to keep moving forward with the support and knowledge of others.

Today, our community was swept away by the magic of Cape Cod, but the true light didn’t come from lighthouses- it came from the hearts of our wonderful residents. In a coastal paradise, we shared an afternoon that felt more like a homecoming. As we traced the history of the Cape and felt the salt- air spirit of the lighthouses, we were reminded of the strength and endurance that define our own stories. The air was rich with the aroma of a delicious seaside feast, crafted by our dedicated, culinary team. But the heart of the day belonged to the “Gorgeous Grandmas”. To the women whose warmth, wisdom, and timeless beauty make our community feel like a family: ladies, you are our greatest treasure! Jo and Gordy celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this summer at Atria Willow Glen, and their advice for newlyweds is beautifully simple:

“Always remember to say ‘I love you,’ ‘thank you’ and ‘I’m sorry.’”

Together since meeting on a blind date at age 16, they still celebrate their love on the 19th of every month, hold hands and make each other smile. As Jo says, “Gordy is so much fun to be around, and he still makes me laugh.”

A sweet reminder that lasting love is built on choosing each other every day. ❤️

If you’ve walked through our doors, chances are you’ve been greeted by the radiant smile of our neighbor, Rose. She plays a vital role in our community, ensuring that no one ever feels alone. Moving to a new place can be filled with uncertainty, but Rose is always there to ease the transition. With her warm heart, she quickly befriends new residents, introduces them to neighbors, shows them around the building, and helps them feel right at home. But her welcoming spirit isn’t her only talent! Rose is also an incredibly gifted picture puzzle artist, creating beautiful art pieces that amaze us all. Donkeys, alpacas and yoga, oh my!

Residents at Atria Lincoln Place took a trip to see some of their favorite friends at Roots Heaven Farm!

Sharing snacks, getting snuggles and doing yoga were all on the itinerary, but some of those were easier to do than others. "We tried to find our calm during chair yoga but easily got a little bit distracted," laughs Brielle, the community's Engage Life Director.

The highlight of their trip? They got to meet Bianca the alpaca, who had been born just the day before!

Carolina has been part of the community for 3 years, and during that time she has consistently gone above and beyond in her role. When asked what she loves most about her job, Carolina shares, “I love being able to advocate for residents who sometimes can’t advocate for themselves. I also enjoy getting to know each resident on a personal level and learning about their unique personalities.”

Her caring heart and dedication make a meaningful difference every day. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, Carolina is also pursuing a nursing career and is currently preparing to take her boards to become an LVN.

Wisdom from Atria Tamalpais Creek!

“Be kind. Be honest. Be trustworthy," shares Sherley. "Always do your best. Compliment someone every day — even a stranger." These philosophies have carried her through life, starting at a young age. "When I was around 8 years old, my father gave me what he called a 'list of good deeds,' a gentle reminder for how to live life with integrity, kindness and heart."

Sherley shares how these words have stayed with her through every stage of life. What may have seemed like simple advice as a little girl became the foundation of the person she grew into.

"Kindness and gratitude can open doors, honesty builds trust and even a small compliment can brighten someone’s entire day."

Sparkles, smiles, and senior unity! Our July Red, White, and Blue Color Challenge was a vibrant showcase of community spirit. Residents stayed active and connected with balloon volleyball, historic trivia, firework painting, and festive bingo. A highlight of the week was seeing everyone collaborate on custom door wreaths and beautifully decorated walkers and wheelchairs. This challenge reminded us all that the incredible bond between our neighbors makes this community feel exactly like family.♥️💙

Natalie first came to Atria Forest Hills for respite while recovering from an injury, and she has now been living there for eight years!

"I came here on a temporary basis," Natalie shares. "My son wanted me to try it out, but I knew right away that this would be my forever home." She adds, "I have everything I need here. The staff is great, and there's so much to do."

We're so glad Natalie chose to stay and make Forest Hills her home..

Life is sweet, but it is truly sweetest when shared. Our activity room was transformed into a strawberry-themed summer café for an afternoon social filled with warmth and excitement. We shared special moments together, from laughing over strawberry trivia to the joyful fun of dipping fresh berries into a chocolate fountain. Our plates were full, but our hearts were even fuller. To bring the afternoon to a perfect close, we enjoyed a live concert, singing together to our favorite songs. It was a beautiful day of music, connection, and pure joy.❤️🌺🎈🧁🥮🧁

Meet Ron and his newest companion, June!

Ron recently adopted June, a 7-year-old Brittany Spaniel, through a Brittany Spaniel rescue organization in Pennsylvania. After a thorough application and home inspection process, June found her forever home at Atria Center City.

A lifelong animal lover, Ron has always enjoyed the companionship that pets bring. "Growing up, I was surrounded by animals and fondly remember riding horses and caring for family pets," shares Ron. Throughout his life, dogs have always held a special place in his heart.

June's story is just as special. She came from a family that could no longer care for her, and after spending much of her life outdoors, she now has a loving home where she can thrive. "June is one of the friendliest dogs I have ever had," adds Ron.

When asked what animals bring to our lives, Ron's answer was simple: They bring pleasure, purpose and unconditional love. "Caring for June gives me a sense of responsibility and companionship. I believe pets can have a positive impact on both emotional well-being and overall health."

We're so thankful that Ron chose to share his story with us and thrilled that June has become part of the Atria family.

We served it up Cubano-style at our Taste of Little Havana, Miami events.

Residents enjoyed fried plátanos, pressed Cuban sandwiches, potato chips and crisp cucumber salad. And don’t forget about dessert – flan!

To top it off, communities screened the 2022 Father of the Bride starring Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan.

Atria at Foster Square residents enjoyed a wonderful concert excursion to see the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, complete with a chartered bus ride, an amazing lunch and unforgettable music. The highlight of the day was cheering on Bernie, a Life Guidance Program Specialist at Foster Square, as he performed on stage!

Bernie shares, "My heart is filled with so much gratitude from all the love and support from the residents of our amazing community."

It was a joyful day filled with pride, community and incredible talent. 🌈

Very important puppies, that is. Each month, all the furry neighbors are invited to a tail-waggingly good party, along with their humans and neighbors. It's a great chance for the dogs to enjoy some extra attention and playtime.

Delicious food, celebrity judges and stellar emcees made our community cook-offs a huge success! Our Chef Showdown Social Series event was a tasty one as taco recipes from our chefs went head-to-head with recipes from local fire chiefs and first responders.

More than 25 years ago, Ricardo and his wife joined the team at Atria Golden Creek. Their 7-year-old daughter, Anahi, would come volunteer with residents whenever she could.

Years later, Anahi returned as a caregiver and has now spent 14 years growing into her current role as Resident Services Coordinator. Along the way, she completed nursing school through Atria’s tuition reimbursement program and is now on her way to becoming an LVN.

And the tradition continues – when Anahi’s daughter Jessica turned 7, she began volunteering too. Today, she’s a Bistro Attendant at the community.

Three generations connected by a shared love of serving older adults. 💙
