Judy Bouche, a beloved sister, aunt, and long-time resident of Huntington, passed away in New Rochelle, NY, on August 25, 2026, due to major injuries sustained in a car accident on June 26, 2005. She was 80 years old.

Born in Rich Square, NC, on March 26, 1946, Judy was known for her vibrant spirit, warmth, and artistic soul. For 21 years, she was the devoted wife of Andre Bouche, a portrait artist, until his passing in 1989. Together, they shared a life of creative adventure, traveling across the United States to state fairs and art shows with Judy happily serving as his assistant.

Judy called Huntington home from 1968 to 2005. An accomplished beautician, she famously brought her signature style and flair to Provincetown during the 1970s drag shows. She also served as a dedicated public servant, working with the Department of Motor Vehicles for 14 years. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Judy was a fierce, lifelong advocate who stood on the right side of history, passionately supporting LGBTQ+ rights for over 60 years.

Creative collaboration and cultural history were central to Judy’s life. In the early 1960s, she spent time working alongside artists on a Cheyenne reservation, fueling a deep passion for collecting Kachina dolls and American Indian artifacts. She loved to dance, possessed an endless affection for animals—especially her cherished dog, Fuzzy, and cat, Tookie—and filled her life with music as a joyous, constant voice in the...

In Loving Memory of Elsa Margrethe Hansen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elsa Margrethe Hansen, who died peacefully on Sunday, 9th August 2026.

Elsa leaves behind her daughters, Nancy and Sue; her granddaughters, Jenny and Kirsty; her great-granddaughter, Mathilde; and her extended family and many friends.

Although we are deeply saddened that she is no longer with us, we are grateful for every moment we were fortunate enough to share with her, and for the memories that will remain with us.

Elsa lived a life filled with adventure. At the age of 17, she left Norway for New York, beginning a life that would span two countries and many journeys. She continued to travel with her family throughout her life, embracing new experiences and making memories along the way, even in her later years. She had a wonderful sense of humour, a generous spirit and a zest for life, creating many special and magical moments for her family - particularly for her granddaughters as they were growing up.

Thank you, Elsa, for the special memories, the laughter and the magical moments you created. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Friends and family are warmly invited to join us for a memorial service at Jacobsen’s Funeral Home on Thursday 20th August at 3pm, before she is laid to rest alongside her husband, Jerry, in their final resting place in Bergen, Norway.

May she rest peacefully, and may the spirit of adventure and joy...
