Photos from our Inaugural West Virginia Water Festival Trail Race have been uploaded! This race offered distances of 6.5 miles, 13 miles, and 19.5 miles! We will be looking at hosting this event again next year so keep an eye out for it!

We're honored to be part of the official opening and ribbon cutting celebration for the expanded Ridenour Lake Preserve on Saturday, June 20!

Join us for a FREE 5K & 10K Trail Run at 10:00 AM and a FREE 11 Mile Mountain Bike Race at 12:30 PM as we celebrate one of the newest outdoor recreation destinations in the Kanawha Valley.

For many years, the City of Nitro has been a tremendous partner in supporting running and outdoor recreation throughout our region. We're excited to see this incredible trail system become a reality and look forward to helping welcome participants to the preserve for its grand opening.

What an incredible day at the 2026 Hatfield McCoy Marathon!

Almost 600 runners from 40 states crossed the finish line yesterday in either Matewan, WV or Williamson, WV. Thank you to everyone who traveled to the mountains of southern West Virginia to be part of this special event.

Congratulations to Kelsey Rae Legg for being selected as the recipient of this year’s Terence Nabors Memorial Scholarship.

Pictured are Terence’s parents presenting the scholarship this morning at Nitro High School.

The scholarship is funded through proceeds from the Terence Nabors Memorial Race, which was held from 2013 through 2017.

To date, 13 scholarships totaling $6,500 have been awarded through the program.

We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of so many great races. This past weekend, our team timed and supported 9 events across WV, KY, IL, and NY. Huge thanks to our incredible timers who power through early mornings, little sleep, and long hours to make it all possible!
