πŸ’‘ Did You Know? The first Labor Day was created during a period when workers were pushing for better working conditions and shorter hours. By 1886, organized workers were campaigning nationally for an eight-hour workday.

Today's workforce looks very different, but the need for skilled, prepared workers hasn't changed. That means investing in:

πŸ› οΈ Hands-on skills
πŸŽ“ Training and education
πŸ‘· Safe workplaces
πŸ“ˆ Career pathways
🀝 Opportunities to keep learning

At PPI, workforce development connects people with the skills and opportunities they need to build careers and strengthen the industries around them.

Happy Labor Day to the skilled workforce that keeps America moving! πŸ’™πŸ©Ά

πŸ’™πŸ©Ά Healthy Employees Are Part of a Healthy Workplace.

πŸ’‘ Did you know? An estimated 91.2 million U.S. adults, or 36.1%, had total cholesterol of 200 mg/dL or higher based on the latest available national data from 2021–2023.

High cholesterol often has no symptoms, which makes knowing your numbers especially important.

A few ways to support healthy cholesterol levels:

πŸ₯— Choose foods lower in saturated fat and higher in fiber.
πŸƒ Stay physically active.
🚭 Avoid smoking and to***co.
🩺 Get your cholesterol checked and know your numbers.
πŸ’Š Follow your healthcare provider's recommendations if treatment is needed.

For employers, supporting employee wellness can help people take a more proactive approach to their health, both at work and at home. We can help!

Know your numbers. Take care of your health. πŸ’™πŸ©Ά

πŸ’™πŸ©Ά More Than a Job. A Bridge to Better Care.

Community Health Workers bring a unique set of skills to the healthcare workforce. They may help people navigate healthcare and social-service systems, connect with providers, provide referrals, conduct outreach, and help address barriers that can make it harder to access care.

That makes CHW work about more than healthcare knowledge. Communication, cultural competency, advocacy, service coordination, and community engagement are all valuable skills that strengthen the workforce.

At PPI, we're passionate about creating opportunities for people to develop skills that serve both their careers and their communities.

This Community Health Worker Appreciation Week, we're recognizing the professionals who put those skills to work every day. πŸ’™πŸ©Ά

πŸ’™πŸ©Ά CHWs Are Part of the Future of the Healthcare Workforce.🀝

It’s Community Health Worker Appreciation Week, and we're recognizing a workforce that plays an important role in helping people access care and navigate the systems that support their health.

πŸ’‘ Did you know? HRSA projects that demand for Community Health Workers will increase by 11% by 2030, reaching approximately 67,560 workers nationwide. Rural communities in particular can benefit from strengthening their local health workforce.

At PPI, we believe workforce development is about creating pathways into meaningful careers while helping communities build the skilled workforce they need.

Training, hands-on experience, and opportunities to grow can turn today's workforce needs into tomorrow's career opportunities. πŸ’™πŸ©Ά

πŸ’‰πŸ’™πŸ©Ά Prevention Is Part of a Healthy Workforce.

πŸ’‘ Did you know? Vaccination helps protect people from serious diseases and can also help reduce the spread of preventable illnesses in workplaces and communities.

For employers, supporting employee health can mean fewer disruptions, healthier teams, and a safer workplace. Encouraging employees to stay current on recommended vaccinations is one simple way to support a culture of prevention.

At PPI, occupational health is about more than responding to illness or injury. It's about helping employers take proactive steps to protect their people and build healthier workplaces.πŸ’™πŸ©Ά

πŸ‘οΈπŸ’™πŸ©Ά Protect Your Vision. Protect Your Work.

πŸ’‘ Did you know? A comprehensive eye exam can detect vision problems and may also help identify signs of certain health conditions before noticeable symptoms appear.

August is National Eye Exam Month, and regular eye exams are an important part of protecting your vision and overall health, both on and off the job.

For employees, good vision is especially important when working around machinery, tools, vehicles, chemicals, or other workplace hazards. And while protective eyewear helps prevent injuries, regular eye exams help make sure employees are seeing clearly and staying on top of their eye health.

At PPI, occupational health is about looking at the whole picture and helping employers support healthier, safer workforces.

Schedule your regular eye exam and don't take your vision for granted. πŸ‘οΈπŸ’™πŸ©Ά

On Tuesday, August 11, volunteers across Huron will come together for United Way's Day of Caring, putting their time, skills, and energy toward projects that benefit local organizations and the community we call home.

At PPI, we believe strong communities are built by people who are willing to show up, lend a hand, and invest in the places where they live and work. Giving back isn't just about what we accomplish in a day. It's about the connections we build and the difference we can make when we work together. πŸ’™πŸ©Ά

β˜€οΈπŸ¦Ί Sun Safety Is Workplace Safety πŸ’™πŸ©Ά

August is Summer Sun Safety Month, a good time to remember that UV exposure is a workplace hazard for employees who spend part of their day outdoors.

πŸ’‘ Did you know? Long-term exposure to ultraviolet radiation can increase the risk of skin cancer, and workers who spend extended periods outdoors may have greater exposure than those who work primarily indoors.

Employers can help protect their teams by encouraging:

🧴 Broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher
πŸ‘• Protective clothing and wide-brimmed hats when appropriate
πŸ•ΆοΈ UV-blocking sunglasses
🌳 Breaks in shaded areas when possible
πŸ’§ Plenty of water, especially during hot weather

At PPI, occupational health means looking at the whole workplace and the everyday hazards employees face. Prevention starts with recognizing the risks and giving people the tools to work safely.

Opportunity Builds Strong Communities. πŸ’™πŸ©Ά

This Independence Day, we celebrate the freedoms that inspire people to learn, grow, work, and build a brighter future.

At PPI, we're proud to support individuals and employers by creating opportunities through workforce development, occupational health, education, and apprenticeships. When people have the tools, training, and support to succeed, stronger workplaces and stronger communities follow.

As we celebrate our nation's independence, we're grateful for the hardworking employees, employers, apprentices, educators, and partners who help move our communities forward every day.
