One Community Hospice & Palliative Care

One Community Hospice & Palliative Care Hospice is all about living and taking advantage of every moment life has to offer. Once I met the staff, all of my doubts were eased.

When medical care cannot offer a cure, hospice provides patients and their families comfort, care and support. Hospice is not a place, but rather a philosophy of care that focuses on treating the person and not the disease. It neither hastens nor postpones death, but rather affirms each day, enhancing quality of life for the person coping with a life-limiting illness. " The evening my mother was a

dmitted to Hospice, I was apprehensive and nervous. They showed me such compassion and care that I knew my mother would be in good hands. They were generous with their time, explaining everything to me so I knew that not only would my mother's needs be met, but mine would be as well. I felt assured that I could contact them personally if necessary and I left with a feeling of calm, confident that my mother was in good hands. -Georgia M.

One Community Hospice & Palliative Care is always out and about. Today was about attending Jackson County Professional in Aging and taking time to learn about trauma. One episode in your life may be small but affects your responses the rest of your life! Thank-you to speaker, Amy Schield for providing valuable information on this topic.

To All My Fellow Veterans, on Wednesday, May 20, at Vesper Hall in Blue Springs, we will have our monthly Veteran Cafe, sponsored by One Community Hospice & Palliative Care and hosted by Vesper Hall at 1000 - 1100am. This month, Shelby Enke, Curator of The US The U.S. Military Museum, will begin our time with a presentation of some of his artifacts, we'll render honors to a Vietnam Veteran and his wife, and Wes Hamerly (Have Drone Will Travel) will be on hand to show us some of the program from The Wall That Heals, which was in Butler, MO last week. I had the honor of delivering the message for the Agent Orange Ceremony held at sunset. Please join us for Coffee, Conversation and Cookies and NO politics or "ain't it awful".
