They did it—Kelsey and Nikki are COVT certified! 👏
To earn a COVT (Certified Optometric Vision Therapist) certification, they had to go through a pretty rigorous, multi-step process: 2,000 hours working in a vision therapy setting under a qualified optometrist, written and oral exams, and continued education and professional credits.

Your dedication to helping patients see and live better truly shows.
We’re lucky to have you on our team!

Give some ❤️ to our recent vision therapy graduates! Read more about their experiences below:

☀️Kristine: Learning the skills to “open” my sight has GREATLY improved my motion sickness while riding in cars. It’s really nice to not be forced to drive everywhere or risk being sick the rest of the day. Going down stairs has also improved. I am more comfortable trusting myself with each step down. My job entails a lot of computer work. When I find myself straining, I use tools from therapy to ‘reset’.
☀️ Maezy: I am a software engineer and I spend tons of time in front of a screen every day. I noticed my vision continued to degrade. I wanted to stop my vision from worsening and prevent losing my ability to see the beautiful things in creation. I sought out vision therapy because my glasses weren’t helping, and my time at Summit gained me knowledge and awareness of my visual system I had previously not had.
☀️ Christopher: Vision therapy made it easier for me to read and write. And now I can converge and diverge easier which I can flex on my friend with.
☀️ Pam: It helped me grow in throwing/catching skills. I noticed I can do computer work longer without feeling worn out at the end of day.
☀️ Calla: VT allowed her to no longer have eye pain and headaches. She’s able to focus on school work and now loves reading where she used to avoid reading. It’s well worth the time, effort and cost. Dr. Tina and the therapists are so knowledgable and kind, they made a huge difference in Calla’s progress.
☀️ Emma: Sara, her therapist says she did really great at side-vision games and adding challenge.
☀️ Parker: Hitting the baseball is easier and now I’m reading more 300 page books instead of comics. I have less homework and I’m having more fun.

Also congrats to Z.M. on your graduation!

A little secret about your vision therapist: they think about you often. Something small can trigger a thought about your world and your experiences and your challenges. And we bring those thoughts back into the office to create activities that are going to help you most effectively. You matter to us. ☀️

The sun is starting to shine again in WA! ☀️ Spending more time outdoors can actually help protect your child’s vision. Research shows that natural light and looking at objects in the distance give growing eyes a much-needed break from screens and close-up work. Kids who spend more time outside are less likely to develop nearsightedness (myopia), and their eyes get stronger from the variety of visual experiences nature provides.

So encourage your child to play outside, explore, and soak in the daylight—it’s one of the simplest (and most fun!) ways to support healthy vision for life. 🌞⚽️🌳

What’s your opinion?! Not just about the design, but what visual skills would need to be top notch to play this simple game? With each of our patients we pay attention to their visual information processing skills. Vision isn’t just about what you see but it’s about how you process and interact with what you’re seeing.

It would be interesting to see how a child interacts with the old vs the current game.

Do you think you would have a hard time navigating your pieces, keeping track of where you are, visual fatigue or other figure-ground related difficulty?

The good news is visual information processing skills can be practiced & improved. Our brains are wonderful like that. 🧠 💕

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “After struggling for years with insurance and in network optometrists, Summit Vision was a breath of fresh air! After years of misdiagnosis and improper prescriptions, Summit Vision worked effortlessly with my child who suffers from sensory/eye strain/ADHD and dyslexia.

The level of professionalism was wonderful and hopefully encourages other medical practitioners to offer the same level of excellence in the future.” -Jess L

So … we saw do a really cool activity on a reel to help with convergence posturing — in my memory it was someone holding a popsicle stick in their mouth while they balanced blocks on the end of it. Turns out, that wasn’t actually the way they did it 😂 but we had fun with this variant anyway. And hey, it got the job done. Didn’t everyone’s eye teaming look beautiful? 👀 🤩

We challenge and to do this challenge next 🎥
