One of my participants wrote this in her final reflection after four weeks together:

"Ease as a nonnegotiable foundation — versus something I work hard to maintain."

I've been sitting with that sentence for weeks.

Because that's exactly it, isn't it?

So many of us have learned to experience ease as something we earn. A reward for effort, a brief exhale between demands. Something to be managed and protected, not something we simply inhabit.

But ease isn't a reward.

It's a capacity.

And capacity — real, lasting, nervous-system-level capacity — is something your body can actually learn. Not through pushing harder. Not through yet another mindset reframe.

Through the body. Through awareness. Through the kind of practice that reorganizes your system from the inside out.

This is what I've spent 20 years refining and teaching.

And it keeps changing lives in ways that genuinely humble me.

If you're curious what this feels like in your own body, Elusive Safety LGBTQIA+ centered drop-in classes are a gentle, low-commitment place to start. Link in bio.

A small awareness practice for your day.

Most of us have learned to manage our expression so automatically we've stopped noticing we're doing it.

The tightening before you speak. The edited breath. The words that soften themselves before they even arrive.

This isn't a flaw. It's a learned pattern. And learned patterns — especially physical ones — can change.

It starts with noticing.

What do you observe in yourself? I'd genuinely love to hear. ↓

It's here. 🌈

The first Pride was a riot. And this moment is asking everything of us.

Elusive Safety is a monthly somatic movement class for q***r folx and allies — built for our LGBTQIA+ fam, rooted in nervous system science, and centered in community. Because you cannot pour from an empty nervous system.

And q***r joy is not the reward we get when the fight is over. It is the fuel that keeps us in it.

We gather on the fourth Wednesday of every month via Zoom.
First class: June 25th at 1pm EST / 10am PT
Sliding scale $20 · $35 · $55

Twenty years ago I was technically excellent and quietly constrained.

I could teach, perform, and lead. But there was a steady hum underneath all of it:
There's more in me than I'm letting through.

It took me years to understand that the constraint wasn't only in my mindset.

It was in my body.

The way I held my ribcage.

The way I managed my breath before speaking.

The micro-bracing that happened so automatically I'd stopped noticing it.

When I finally started working with those patterns — not against them, but with them — everything shifted. Not just vocally. Emotionally. Relationally. In how I moved through the world.

That's why I do this work the way I do.

Not to add more technique on top of an already capable person.

But to help you access what's already there — the part of you that's been waiting for permission to come through fully.

This is self-restoration. Not self-improvement.

I've lived both sides of it. And I know what becomes possible when your body stops working against you and starts working with you.

Your emotional patterns don't just live in your mind.

They live in the way your jaw tightens before a hard conversation.

In the breath you hold when someone asks too much of you.

In the shoulders that round forward when you shrink.

These aren't just stress responses.

They're habits. Deeply grooved, well-practiced, often decades old.

And here's what most people miss:

Because they're physical habits, they can be worked with physically.

Not through force. Not through willpower. Through awareness. Through curiosity. Through the kind of gentle, precise attention that lets your nervous system discover — on its own terms — that something else is possible.

This is the foundation of everything I do.

Your body already holds the wisdom. My job is to help you access it.

I'm Sharon — somatic voice and embodiment practitioner with 25 years in vocal pedagogy and 20 years as a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner. This is the work.

My love. You've done so much work on yourself.

And you're still exhausted.

You know your patterns. You can name them as they're happening. You've had the revelations, sat with the hard stuff, done the therapy, read the books. You're not someone who avoids herself.

And yet — you say something and spend hours in the replay. You show up fully and crash afterward from the effort. You catch a glimpse of who you really are and then somehow, frustratingly, it slips.

You are not broken.

Insight lives in the mind. But ease — real, cellular, I don't have to white-knuckle this anymore ease — that lives in the nervous system, and it's grounded in the body. Your nervous system doesn't update from reading about it or even from understanding it.
It updates from being in it. With your actual body.

This is where the work goes next. Not deeper into your head. Down. Into the place where knowing becomes feeling, and feeling becomes just... how you move through your life.

You're not broken. You're not missing something fundamental about yourself.
You're just one layer away.

What would it feel like if ease was just your baseline — not something you work hard to maintain? Tell me in the comments.

You walked into a room and something felt off before a single word was spoken.

You hovered over "send" without knowing why — and it turned out you were right.
We call these moments intuition. Or anxiety. Or coincidence.

But your nervous system was doing exactly what it's designed to do: processing more than your conscious mind can hold, and giving you a readout before language even forms.

The body is not a container for the mind. It is intelligence itself.

The problem isn't that we don't know. It's that we've learned to distrust what we sense — to override the signal with analysis, approval-seeking, performance.

I write about this in this week's newsletter, along with a free self-trust practice I'm sending to everyone who joins the list.

A gentle thing to carry into this week:
You don't have to earn your presence.

You don't have to perform your way into being worthy of being heard.

Your voice — however it sounds right now, however uncertain or unpracticed or long-quieted — is already enough to begin with.

That's where the work starts.

Not with more effort.

With permission.

Have an embodied week. 🖤

Why doing everything right can leave you feeling like a stranger to yourself.

It's something I think about a lot — because it's the experience so many of the women I work with carry quietly, without quite having words for it.

They're capable. Emotionally intelligent. They show up for everyone around them. They've built lives that look whole from the outside.

And yet something feels just out of reach. A sense of themselves they can't quite access. An aliveness they remember but can't find their way back to.

This didn't happen because they failed. It happened because they succeeded — at being responsible, steady, emotionally safe for everyone else. For so long that the body learned to hold back. To protect. To manage experience rather than fully inhabit it.

That protection was never the enemy. It was wisdom. It was love.

But at some point, the work becomes about creating conditions for what's real to feel safe enough to come forward again.

That's what I do. And it tends to move people more than they expect.
If any of this lands — I'd love to stay connected. There's a free somatic self-trust practice waiting for you in my email community. Link in bio.

Your body already knows the way.

But most of us have spent years learning to override that knowing — to push through, manage, perform, and decide from the neck up.

If you've been feeling the pull toward something more embodied, more honest, more yours — I'd love to stay connected.

When you join my email community, you'll receive a free somatic self-trust practice: a short guided meditation and body-based check-in designed to help you slow down, listen inward, and reconnect with your own knowing.

There's a lot coming this year — new offerings, new collaborations, new spaces for expression and regulation and community. My newsletter is where I go deepest and share first.
