Our Family Friend is seeking a driven and compassionate Specialty Programs Coordinator to lead the specialty side of our organization. This role serves all the areas we cover: Ann Arbor, Manchester, Chelsea, Stockbridge, Dexter, Grass Lake, Saline, Jackson, Spring Arbor, and Brooklyn. You will spend the majority of your time growing and expanding Vern's Place, our respite apartment in Jackson, by building community awareness and connecting more families to this special resource, while also overseeing all specialty programs for Our Family Friend. This is a meaningful leadership role for someone who thrives on building programs, delivering an exceptional client experience, and helping our specialty services grow.
About the Role
The Specialty Programs Coordinator oversees the specialty program portion of Our Family Friend, including our Hospice clients, Veterans Affairs clients, and Vern's Place Senior Stay Inn. You will focus on growing and expanding Vern's Place by raising community awareness, building relationships with families and referral partners, and helping more people discover this special respite resource. You will also guide clients and families through hospice transitions with compassion and care, and ensure our Veterans and hospice admitted clients receive service at the highest standard. You will establish the workflows, documentation standards, and communication processes that keep every specialty program organized, compliant, and ready to scale.
What You'll Do
Oversee all specialty service lines, including Hospice, Veterans Affairs, and Vern's Place Senior Stay Inn
Grow and expand Vern's Place in the Jackson area by building community awareness and connecting more families to the program, while ensuring every stay is prepared, staffed, and operationally ready
Lead client transitions onto hospice with compassion, proactive communication, and attention to detail
Oversee care and documentation for our Veterans and hospice admitted clients, maintaining full compliance
Develop and continuously improve specialty care protocols, caregiver resources, and workflows
Provide direct client care as operationally necessary to protect continuity of care
What We're Looking For
A genuine passion for serving older adults, Veterans, and hospice clients and their families
A growth minded, community oriented approach with the drive to expand Vern's Place and connect more families to it
Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast paced environment
Proficiency in Google Workspace and comfort learning data management systems (we use Asana and WellSky, and will train the right individual)
A proactive, solutions oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership
Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and professional communication
Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed to ensure continuity of care
A commitment to exceptional client care in every interaction
