It can impact a person's thoughts, emotions, relationships, sleep, and sense of safety.

Healing is possible and people can reclaim parts of their lives that trauma once disrupted.

Postpartum depression is more than feeling tired or overwhelmed. Symptoms can include persistent sadness, irritability, anxiety, feelings or guilt or shame about not being a good enough mother, difficulty bonding with your baby, and changes in sleep and appetite.

If you are struggling and symptoms have lasted for longer than 2 weeks then it's time to reach out for help. This isn't a sign that you aren't a good mother - it's a strength.

You don't have to carry the feelings alone; effective treatment is available.

When we talk about postpartum mental heath, moms are often the focus - but dads and partners can also struggle too.

Research shows that fathers can experience postpartum mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, increased stress, irritability, sleep issues, increase in substance use, and feelings of overwhelm during the transition to parenthood.

If you're a new dad or partner who isn't feeling like yourself, know that support is available. Taking care of your mental health benefits your entire family.

Remember you don't have to navigate parenthood alone.

Sometimes self-care doesn't have to be complicated.

Sometimes it looks like:
💦 Drinking enough water to stay hydrated
😴 Making sure you get enough sleep so you don't have to push through exhaustion
🧠 Taking mental breaks throughout the day to reset and recharge

Small steps can add up to help support your physical health, emotional well-being, and ability to show up for the things and people who matter most.
