Oforbuike Ewelukwa, MD, MSc, (pronounced Eh-Wey-Luke-Wah) is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology specializing in treating various digestive and liver diseases at Imperial Digestive Health Specialists PLLC in Katy, Texas. Dr. Ewelukwa completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Wright State University School of Medicine, Dayton, Ohio, where he held the position of

Resident Instructor for the Research Scholar Pathway. During the same time, he worked with the Mayo Clinic Division of Gastroenterology as a Research Fellow. He published peer-reviewed articles on Epidemiology and Health Policy relating to gastrointestinal disorders such as Diverticulitis, Hepatitis C, and F***l Incontinence. Dr. Ewelukwa then completed his fellowship training in Gastroenterology, Liver Diseases, and Nutrition at the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida. During his Gastroenterology Fellowship, Dr. Ewelukwa was the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America’s 2018 Visiting Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Fellowship scholar at the University of Chicago, where he engaged in highly interactive clinical rotations, conferences, and case presentations, working closely with renowned experts in this specialized medical field. He also holds a master’s degree in Public Health and Health Economics from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London. Dr. Ewelukwa is very detail-oriented and strives to provide comprehensive digestive and liver care to his patients. He prioritizes creating a solid physician-patient relationship, which requires a careful understanding of each patient’s peculiar case history before determining the treatment path that would yield the most optimal outcomes. Based on his clinical judgment, Dr. Ewelukwa can perform a wide range of endoscopic and other diagnostic tests before discussing the treatment options with the patient in a shared decision process. While Dr. Ewelukwa has special interests in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Colon Cancer screening, especially for high-risk groups such as African Americans or those with a family history of colon cancer, he also manages other digestive and liver diseases. Due to his excellence in patient care, Dr. Ewelukwa was voted to Houston’s Top Doctors and recognized in “Top Docs,” H-Texas Magazine in 2018, as well as Houstonia Magazine 2018.
