We recently celebrated our Family Medicine residents at our annual Transition Ceremony, where residents symbolicaly move into their next residency year. We are so proud of our residents and the progress they've made this year!

The residents also voted on three faculty members who made the most impact in their training this year. Those winners were Peter Park, MD, of our Family Medicine Residency program, Maria Loben Eberle, MD, Emergency Medicine and ultrasound training, and David Horne, MD, MPH, Dermatology.

Special thank you to Birdies the place to gather in Keene for hosting the event!

Last week, we honored our local first responders for their lifesaving care to people who experienced cardiac arrest outside of a hospital at our fourth annual Rescuers Reuniting with the Rescued event.

The event recognized dozens of first responders and reunited them with the people whose lives they saved. Thank you to all for your vital contributions to our community!

Special thank you to N.H. Senator Sue Prentiss, a paramedic, and N.H. Executive Councilor John Stephen for showing their support.

Several local towns lacked reliable emergency medical services for their residents. To help, we launched our Paramedic Intercept Program, providing paramedic services to communities experiencing gaps in this care.

The program serves as the primary paramedic response for the towns of Alstead, Marlow and Walpole, as well as other communities in the Greater Monadnock Region when needed.

The Dartmouth Cancer Center Comprehensive Breast Program at Cheshire Medical Center is testing a new approach to breast-conservation cancer surgery, known as a lumpectomy, that could make treatment more precise and effective for our patients.

Trials found the Breast Cancer Locator (BCL) System did a significantly better job than conventional methods in enabling surgeons to remove the complete tumor, leaving no cancer at the edge of the excision and reducing the need for second surgeries.

“We are pleased to be part of this important research, which demonstrates our commitment to fighting and treating breast cancer in every person who needs care," said H.E. Guy Burman, MD, section chief of general surgery and director of Dartmouth Cancer Center’s Cheshire Comprehensive Breast Program.

We are one of 22 other hospitals worldwide testing this new approach. Read more here: cheshiremed.org/health-wellness/article/dartmouth-cancer-center-research-shows-improved-treatment-outcomes-breast-cancer-patients
