Muscle of the Week: Serratus Anterior
The serratus anterior is a key player in scapular stability and overhead movement.
Often called the βboxerβs muscle,β it helps move the shoulder blade forward, rotate it upward, and keep it anchored to the rib cage. When this muscle is weak or not functioning well, shoulder movement can become inefficient and unstable.
Understanding the serratus anterior helps connect the dots between posture, scapular mechanics, and healthy shoulder motion.
Study it. Palpate it. Understand it.
