In addition to general medical, surgical, and obstetr

ical and gynecological care, UNC Lenoir Health Care offers specialized services including cardiology, pulmonology, oncology, radiology, and urology. Our surgical specialties include general, thoracic, and vascular with a staff trained to take special care of you during recovery. With a medical staff of over 100 physicians, UNC Lenoir Health Care offers a range of specialty services and technology you would only expect to find at hospitals in larger cities. Concerned with the health status of the community it serves, UNC Lenoir Health Care offers many free educational health programs, seminars, and screenings each year, and constantly seeks out new ways to positively impact the health status of the residents of Lenoir, Greene, Jones, and surrounding counties.

After suffering a debilitating stroke that affected his speech and mobility, Mr. Tucker came to UNC Health Lenoir’s Inpatient Rehabilitation team determined to regain his independence. Through hard work, faith, and intensive therapy, he went from being unable to move his left leg to walking down the hall with support by discharge. 💙

Studies show that early inpatient rehabilitation after a stroke can lead to greater functional improvement and better long-term outcomes. At UNC Health Lenoir, our multidisciplinary rehabilitation team is dedicated to helping patients regain strength, confidence, and independence every step of the way.

A veteran, community member, and inspiration to all who met him, Mr. Tucker reminded us all what resilience looks like. Wishing him continued success on his recovery journey.
