🌄 Road to 250: Our Grand Canyon Adventure! 🌄

This week at Pelican Pointe, our Road to 250 journey brought us to one of America's greatest natural wonders—the Grand Canyon! Our residents enjoyed watching a fascinating documentary that explored its breathtaking beauty, incredible history, and the forces of nature that shaped this iconic landmark over millions of years.

Did you know?
🏜️ The Grand Canyon is approximately 277 miles long, up to 18 miles wide, and over 1 mile deep!
🪨 The rock layers visible in the canyon tell a story spanning nearly 2 billion years of Earth's history.
🌊 The mighty Colorado River carved the canyon over millions of years and continues to shape it today.
🦅 The Grand Canyon is home to hundreds of species of wildlife, including California condors, bighorn sheep, and elk.
⭐ It was designated a National Park in 1919 and is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

Our residents loved learning about this incredible destination, sharing stories of their own travels, and checking another amazing stop off our Road to 250 adventure. We can't wait to see where our travels take us next! ❤️🌎

This week on our Road to 250 journey, our residents traveled to Keystone, South Dakota, to explore the incredible Mount Rushmore! 🇺🇸⛰️

We enjoyed watching a fascinating documentary about this iconic American landmark and learned about the history, artistry, and determination that brought it to life. It sparked wonderful conversations, shared memories, and a deeper appreciation for one of our nation's most recognizable monuments.

✨ Did you know?
🪨 It took 14 years to carve Mount Rushmore (1927–1941).
📏 Each president's face is about 60 feet tall—roughly the height of a six-story building!
🇺🇸 The four presidents featured are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln, chosen to represent the birth, growth, development, and preservation of the United States.
💥 Nearly 90% of the mountain was carved using dynamite, with the finer details completed by hand.
👷 Despite the dangerous work, no workers lost their lives during the construction of the monument.

🎆❤️🤍💙 Happy Fourth of July from Pelican Pointe! 💙🤍❤️🎆

Our residents had a wonderful day celebrating Independence Day! We kicked off the festivities by heading downtown to enjoy the Fourth of July parade, then returned home for a patriotic celebration filled with delicious treats, including a red, white, and blue truffle cake and plenty of tasty snacks.

There were lots of smiles, laughter, and great memories made as we celebrated together. We're so thankful to share these special moments with our amazing residents.

We hope everyone had a safe and happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸✨
