Denver Vision Therapy, PC

Denver Vision Therapy, PC Vision therapy for children, post-concussion patients, and adults with functional vision problems. We treat what standard eye exams miss. Lakewood, CO.

Vision Therapy is like physical therapy for the eyes. Often people with vision problems are unaware that they see and function differently, especially children. Vision problems affect about 20% of school age children, and close to that in the adult population. A developmental vision evaluation should be the first step with anyone who struggles to read.

13 years ago, Denver Vision Therapy opened with one idea: 20/20 vision is only part of the story.

Since then, we've worked with kids who passed every eye exam but still struggled to read, adults recovering from concussions who couldn't figure out why they still felt "off," and families who'd been told nothing more could be done. Turns out - there was.

Thank you to every patient and family who's trusted us with that journey, and to the referring doctors, teachers, and therapists who send us your toughest cases. Here's to 13 years of helping people see - and function - better.

Your child passed their eye exam. So why are they still struggling to read?

Because the eye chart doesn't test everything.

Eye tracking. Eye teaming. Eye focusing. Visual processing. These are the skills that make reading successful - and a standard eye exam won't catch it when they are off.

If your gut is telling you something's been missed, it probably has.
A functional vision evaluation can find what the eye chart didn't.

If you've been told your eyes are "fine" after a concussion - but something still feels very wrong - you're not imagining it.

Post-concussion vision problems are one of the most commonly overlooked reasons why symptoms linger after a head injury. That's because a standard eye exam only checks whether you can read a chart. It doesn't test how your eyes and brain are working together.

After a concussion, that connection can be disrupted - causing symptoms like light sensitivity, dizziness, headaches, trouble reading, and nausea in busy environments. These aren't "in your head." They're real, and they're treatable.

At Denver Vision Therapy, our doctors specialize in neuro-optometric therapy - a program designed specifically for patients recovering from brain injuries. We test what standard exams miss, and we build a treatment plan around you.

If this sounds familiar, DM us. We're happy to answer your questions and help you figure out if vision therapy could be the missing piece in your recovery.

Your vision after a concussion isn't just "blurry." It's hard to process.

Light that never bothered you before is now unbearable. Screens feel like punishment. Busy environments send your brain into overdrive. Reading a single paragraph feels like running a marathon.

After a concussion, the pathways between your eyes and brain can be disrupted in ways a standard eye exam will never catch. Light sensitivity is one of the most common symptoms, and one of the most isolating - because it affects everything.

The good news: it's treatable. Vision rehabilitation can help retrain those pathways, reduce sensitivity, and get you back to feeling like yourself.

If you're still struggling after a concussion and nobody has looked at your visual system yet - that's where we start. πŸ’™

Most people know a concussion can cause headaches and brain fog. But here's what doesn't get talked about enough: the inflammation.

When your brain experiences a concussion, it triggers a neuroinflammatory response - your brain's version of swelling. And that inflammation doesn't just affect how you think. It affects how you see.

Visual symptoms after a concussion - light sensitivity, double vision, difficulty reading, dizziness when you move your eyes - are often a direct result of neuroinflammation disrupting the pathways between your eyes and your brain.

This is why standard eye care often isn't enough after a head injury. The visual system needs targeted rehabilitation, not just time.
At DVT, we specialize in exactly this. πŸ’™

If your symptoms haven't fully resolved after a concussion - even months later - your visual system may be the missing piece. Link in bio to learn more.
