LaVerna Molleker

LaVerna (Korbe) Molleker, age 97, of Hays, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Country Living of Larned in Larned, Kansas.

She was born April 24, 1929, in Munjor, Kansas, to Chrysostom A. and Catherine (Meier) Korbe, Sr. LaVerna spent her early years in Munjor, attending grade school there before graduating as valedictorian from Schoenchen High School. On April 19, 1949, she was united in marriage to Jacob Molleker, Jr. in Munjor. He preceded her in death on June 7, 2014.

LaVerna was a Licensed Cosmetologist who owned and operated LaVerna’s Beauty Shop in Hays for over 45 years. She was a longtime member of the Hays V.F.W. Auxiliary Post No. 9076 and a former parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. LaVerna lived in Hays for most of her life before moving to Beloit in 2014, and later to Larned in 2021.

LaVerna enjoyed being a seamstress and loved to bake. Above all she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

She is survived by her children: Donald Lee Molleker and wife Robyn Brooks of Marion, KS; Jacques Molleker of Larned, KS; Errol Francis Molleker of Hays, KS; and Gilletta A. Molleker and husband Kelly Kimerer of Beloit, KS. Her memory lives on through her 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, as well as her brother, Chrysostom Korbe, Jr., of Battle Ground, WA.

LaVerna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jacob; her brother Willard Korbe and wife Romona; her infant brother Marvin Korbe; her sisters Twila Campbell and husband Earl, and Bernita Younger and husband Marvin; her daughter-in-law Joan Molleker; and her grandson Wesley Paul Molleker.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 31, 2026, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Munjor with Father Damian Richards officiating. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery.

A combined parish Vigil, Rosary and V.F.W. Auxiliary Memorial Service will begin at 6:30 P.M. Thursday, at Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory-Brock's Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, Kansas 67601.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Brock's Chapel and Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Munjor.

The family suggests memorial made payable to: Hays V.F.W. Auxiliary Post No. 9076.

Larry L. Jones

Lewis, KS

Larry L. Jones passed away on July 25 at the age of 77. He was born on November 24, 1948, in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado. His parents were Leonard Jones and Henrietta (Wallace) Jones - both deceased.

Larry graduated from San Jose State in California. He worked in the Restaurant Industry as Manager of the Blue Goose in Larned, and Golden Manor in Lewis before working as a Graphic Artist Manager for Feist Publications for 20 years, then YellowBook .

He is survived by his wife Debbie Jones of Lewis, his children Trever Jones of Norfolk, NE, Toby Jones of Hays, KS, Tyson Jones of El Dorado, KS, Michelle (Jones) and Charles O'Rear of Kearney, MO, Joey (Jessica) Jones of Port Royal, S.C., and Megan (Jones) and Shawn Gaulden of Cedar Rapids, IA. He is survived by his sisters, Linda (Jones) and Ed Winford of Springfield, MO, Sharon Jones of Springfield, MO, Nelda (Jones) and Dennis Wentworth of Springfield, MO, and grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Larry enjoyed woodworking, interior design, and creating stained glass windows, and creating a life-size Nativity Sculpture Display.

The Celebration of Life service will be held Thurs, July 30th at 10am at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Pastor Mike Bremer presiding. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.

Family invites visitors to their home at 620 Lewis St. following the Jetmore service.

Earl James "Jim" Goff

Jetmore – Earl James “Jim” Goff, 73, passed away July 25, 2026 at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.

He was born July 31, 1952 in Plainville, the son of Lyle Carl and Bonnie Jean Evelyn Thomas Goff.

Moving from Ness City to Jetmore in 2000, he was a rancher. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed farming, ranching, going to the casino and spending time with his grandkids. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

On July 25, 1992 he married Glennis Jolene Dimitt at Dighton; she survives, of the home.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Angela (Jacob “Bubba”) Kelner, Bradley, Arkansas, Jacquelyn (Brian) Bergkamp, Yvette (Cliff) Bell, and Janel (Cole) Wilson, all of Jetmore; son, Anthony (Misty) Dimitt, Wellsville; sister, Elaine O’Bleness, Greeley, Colorado; sister-in-law, Charlotte Goff, Wakeeney; eleven grandchildren, Jackie Kelner, Josie Kelner, Ashton Dimitt, Jaylyn (Hunter) Barbeau, Brayden Bergkamp, Brandon Bell, Jacob Bell, Emma Bell, Kycen Bell, Braylee Wilson, Peyton Wilson; one great grandchild on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Fred Goff.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside celebration of life will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2026 at Ness City Cemetery, Ness City, with Pastor Mark Durham presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore, with family present from 4-6 p.m.

Mary Beth Norris

Burdett – Mary Beth Norris passed on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

She was born in Burdett/Larned June 6, 1950. She was educated in the Burdett schools until the consolidation with the Rozel high school her junior and senior year. She attended and graduated from Ft. Hays State University with a music/fine arts degree. She taught for the Hays School District for three years before moving to Steamboat Springs, Colorado in about 1976. She was a private music teacher of the pennywhistle and flute and is estimated to have taught over 3,500 students according to the Executive Director of the Colorado Suzuki Institute. She founded the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra that is going strong yet today.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Fischer, and daughter, Catherine (Fischer) Shaw, her grandson, Wesley Shaw, as well as her two brothers, Geoffrey Norris (Burdett, KS) and Bob Norris (Plano, TX) and many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. Mary Beth’s Steamboat Springs memorial was held June 23 and attended by and estimated 450-500 people at the Strings Music Pavillion with another 200 viewing the service by livestream.

All are welcomed to join the Norris/Fischer families at the graveside inurnment service this Friday, July 17, 4:00 at the Brown’s Grove Cemetery, Burdett, Kansas.

In honor of Mary Beth's lifelong passion for music education, her family has asked that memorial gifts be made in support of the "Steamboat Symphony Orchestra" and the "Mary Beth Norris Music Scholarship Fund”, a fund of the Yampa Valley Community Foundation", instead of flowers.

Jimmy Dean Cornett

Jimmy Cornett was in the Air Force 4 years as a Jet Engine Mechanics as a mechanic.

He went to Kansas Law Enforcement Academy for 4 years. He was a Policeman in Fredonia Kansas for 5 years. Altogether he was in Law Enforcement for 20 years. He was an EMT, CPR Instructor, Doppler Radar Instructor, and a Sobriety Test Instructor. He moved to Arkansas in 1998. He was a Security Guard at College of the Ozarks for 12 years in Branson Missouri. He worked at Silver Dollar City in Branson Mo. as a Customer Relations and Specialized Maintenance. He worked at Ozark Scenic Tours, Branson Mo. He was a certified Coast Guard Captain. He drove "The Ducks" in Branson Mo and they called him "Captain Jimbo". He helped build the Keeter Building at the College of the Ozarks.

Jimmy Dean Cornett of Burdett Kansas died July 8, 2026. He was born in Independence Kansas to the late Wallace Raymond Cornett and Mary Maxine (Wenzl) Cornett. Jimmy was 80 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Wallace and Mike and a grandson Everette Cornett. Jim loved the Lord and his children (son) Dwayne, his wife Ronae, (Daughter) Christine (Cornett) Allison and Husband Jeff, (Daughter) Veronica (Cornett) Featherstone and his stepchildren Chad Schmidt, Shannon Schmidt and wife Mary, Dusty Schmidt and wife Angel, Libbie (Schmidt) Landeck and husband David, Alisha Oetting and husband William. He classed them and his grandchildren and great grandchildren like his own. He loved them all. He had 5 sisters: Mary Ann Garner, Nancy Miller, Janet Ramsey, Dixie Yates, and Cindy Cornett.

He enjoyed serving his country and loved the flag. He loved reading the Bible. He also really liked helping other people. Every morning, he would read out loud "I am Washed by the Blood. I am Covered by the Blood. I am Saved by the Blood. I am Healed by the Blood. You Devil can't defeat the Blood."

His favorite verse was John 3:16. His favorite song was "How Great thy Art."

Jimmy and Sherry were married on June 3, 2016 in Bentonville, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 10 years to Sherry (Burns) Cornett.

Memorial graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore, Kansas with Pastor David Spare presiding. Military Honors provided by United States Air Force and Chester Hawkins American Legion Post 290. Family requests patriotic attire to be worn at the service.
