Please join us in congratulating Michael Masaracchio, PT, DPT, MBA, on his election as the next President of APTA New York!

He will begin his term following the dedicated leadership of Michael Tisbe, whose service, vision, and commitment have helped guide the chapter through an important period of growth and advocacy.

As President, Michael Masaracchio will lead APTA New York in its mission to advance the physical therapy profession, support our members, and advocate for improved access to physical therapist services across New York State.

We look forward to the leadership, experience, and passion he brings to this role as we continue working together to strengthen our profession and serve the people of New York.

That's a wrap on the 2026 APTA New York Delegate Assembly!

Members from across the state came together in Saratoga Springs for a day of collaboration, discussion, and action. Delegates debated and passed motions, elected new chapter leaders and delegates to represent New York, and engaged in important conversations about the future of our profession.

We also celebrated the incredible generosity of our members, raising more than $3,000 for the APTA New York PAC to support advocacy efforts that advance physical therapy throughout New York State.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, participated, ran for office, shared their perspectives, and helped make this year's Delegate Assembly a success. The passion, leadership, and commitment shown throughout the day continue to move our profession forward.

Here's to another year of advocacy, engagement, and impact. đź’™

🚨 A major change just dropped for future physical therapists and it’s not a good one.

On April 30, the Department of Education finalized a rule that reclassifies physical therapy programs, cutting federal student loan limits nearly in half.

What that means:

➡️ Annual borrowing drops from $50,000 to $20,500
➡️ Lifetime cap drops from $200,000 to $100,000

At a time when we’re already facing healthcare workforce shortages, this creates a new barrier for students trying to enter the profession.

There is movement to fix it. Bipartisan legislation has already been introduced to correct this and protect access to PT education.

Now it needs support.

📣 Take 2 minutes to contact your members of Congress and urge them to back: H.R. 6574, H.R. 6677/S. 4039, and H.R. 6718

This isn’t just about loans. It’s about who gets to become a PT, and who doesn’t.
