That’s exactly why I created Mini Myo @ The Myo Nook
a foundational program designed for little ones ages 4–8 who are ready to start building healthier oral and breathing habits. 💚

💤FUN FACT FRIDAY

Did you know bedwetting can sometimes be connected to poor sleep and airway issues? 🤯

When a child isn’t breathing well during sleep, their sleep quality can be disrupted—and nighttime bladder control may be affected too.

If bedwetting is happening along with things like:
😴 Snoring
👄 Mouth breathing
🦷 Grinding
💦 Drooling
🌀 Restless sleep
🥱 Daytime fatigue or difficulty focusing

…it may be worth looking at the "bigger picture".

Bedwetting isn’t always *just* a bladder issue. 💚

🌿 WISDOM WEDNESDAY 🌿

👅 Where is your tongue right now?

At rest, your tongue shouldn’t be hanging low in your mouth or pushing against your teeth.

Ideally, we want:
✨ Tongue resting UP on the palate
✨ Lips gently together
✨ Teeth slightly apart
✨ Breathing through the NOSE

Proper tongue resting posture matters more than you might think. It can influence oral development, breathing, swallowing, orthodontic stability, and overall oral function.

Sometimes the smallest habits can make a BIG difference. 💚

🦷👅 **MYO MONDAY**

Did you know your child’s **lips should naturally stay together at rest**—without effort?

If you frequently notice:
👄 Lips apart while watching TV or playing
😮 Mouth breathing during the day
💧 Drooling at night
😴 Snoring or restless sleep
💋 Chin muscles working hard to keep the lips closed

…it may be worth looking at **WHY**.

Lip closure, tongue posture, nasal breathing, and airway health all work together—and these are exactly the things we evaluate in myofunctional therapy. 🌿

FUN FACT FRIDAY 💡

Did you know healthy tongue posture involves more than the front of the tongue?

The middle and back portions also play an important role in oral rest posture, swallowing and overall function. Myofunctional therapy helps build the strength, coordination and awareness needed to develop healthier oral patterns.

✅Take a quick posture check:

👅 Is your tongue resting up?
👄 Are your lips comfortably together?
👃 Are you breathing through your nose?

🥨 **Myo Monday: Let’s Talk About Chewing!**

Chewing may seem automatic, but it requires the tongue, cheeks, lips, and jaw to work together as a team.

Some signs that this coordination may need support include:

• Chewing mostly on one side
• Taking a long time to finish meals
• Stuffing too much food into the mouth
• Frequently needing a drink to wash food down
• Food collecting in the cheeks
• Difficulty forming food into a manageable ball before swallowing

During a myofunctional evaluation, I observe how these muscles work together during chewing and swallowing. Improving these patterns can help make mealtimes more comfortable, coordinated, and efficient.

Did you know that snoring in children is **not considered normal**?

If your child snores regularly, wets the bed beyond the expected age, struggles to focus, or breathes through their mouth, it may be worth taking a closer look at how they're breathing while they sleep.

While these signs don't always mean there's a sleep-related breathing issue, they can be important clues that deserve further evaluation.

As a myofunctional therapist, I help identify oral and breathing habits that may be contributing to poor sleep and work alongside your child's healthcare team to support healthier breathing patterns.

💚 Better breathing can support better sleep, and better sleep supports healthy growth, learning, and development.

If you've been wondering whether your child's symptoms could be connected, I'd be happy to answer your questions.
