6:30pm Community Flow with Brooke
a donations-based flow that's suitable for all yogi levels. Connect with the present moment by connecting with your body. Move and breathe to prepare your mind to absorb all the yummy sound Barb serves up.

7:30pm Sound Bath with Barb
a one hour practice that asks nothing of you but to breathe and receive. We offer blankets and bolsters, but you're encouraged to bring anything else to keep you cozy.

Sound familiar? If you've used any of these, I'm here to call you on your ๐Ÿ’ฉ๐Ÿฎ Cause at the end of the day, the story you tell yourself is an excuse to avoid something. Something uncomfortable, something unfamiliar, something with delayed gratification. We all do it!

This isn't a post to shame you. It's a post to say I see you, I hear you, I am you. Without a little guidance and grace, meditation can feel like an impossibly elusive practice.

But let me tell ya, it's just practice. It's the practice of separating from your thoughts instead of identifying with them. It's the practice of noticing when you've lost focus and gently guiding yourself back. It's simple, but it isn't easy. That's why we do it together!

Join me (Brooke :D) and The Mat Community for our monthly meditation practice. This donations-based offering is an opportunity to sit with yourself in the support of others and arrive in the present moment. I believe that you have got this!

The bent over row is one of our favorite pulling movements, and for good reason. No matter which variation you're working with, you're strengthening your lower body stabilizers while targeting your rhomboids, lats, and mid-traps to build a stronger, more supported back. Here's how the levels break down:

โ˜๏ธStaggered Stance Row
A split stance gives you a stable base so you can strengthen stabilizers in the front leg while still engaging muscles in your arm and back. Your core and glutes kick in just enough to keep you steady, letting your back build strength in its lengthened state.

โœŒ๏ธSingle Leg Row
Your hip stabilizers work overtime once you're able to extend the back leg. The focus on this up-level is maintaining squared hips, even if your back foot doesn't lift up to hip height. Squaring your hips engages the primary hip stabilizers and core to resist the common compensation of external rotation. This is essential to properly engage the target muscles in your back and shoulders.

๐Ÿ‘ŒWarrior 3 with Row
While the goal is still a clean row with a neutral, lengthened spine, you can light your entire posterior chain on fire with cross-lateral hip and shoulder extension. This one's not for the faint of heart.
