“Rest is a space where nothing needs to be decided, solved, or accomplished.”
Resting without making decisions gives your mind a break from constantly evaluating, choosing, and planning. Three benefits are:
1. Reduces mental fatigue. Every decision requires attention. A period with nothing to figure out allows your brain to conserve mental energy and recover from decision fatigue.
2. Helps your nervous system settle. When you temporarily release the need to plan, solve, or respond, there are fewer demands competing for your attention. This can make it easier to shift into a calmer, more restorative state.
3. Creates greater clarity afterward. Stepping away from decisions can give thoughts and emotions time to settle. When you return to a choice later, you may find it easier to identify what matters and respond thoughtfully rather than react automatically.
