Dr. Hung is originally from Oklahoma (Boomer Sooner!). He graduated from the BA/MD accelerated program at The University of Missouri Kansas City in 1995. After a surgical internship at the University of Colorado from 1995-1996, he completed his general surgery residency in Kansas City at Truman Medical Center and St. Luke’s Hospital from 1996-2001.
Dr. Hung was instrumental in starting the bariatric/surgical weight loss programs in Lincoln and has performed hundreds of gastric bypasses, Lap Bands, and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomies.
In addition to his bariatric expertise, Dr. Hung is experienced in advanced minimally invasive surgery, practicing the latest laparoscopic techniques in hernia repair, gallbladder and colon surgery, as well as anti-reflux (hiatal hernia) surgery. He was the first surgeon in Nebraska to provide single-incision (virtually scar-less surgery with less pain) gallbladder removal in 2008. Utilizing the da Vinci Surgical System, he was also the first surgeon in Lincoln to provide the option of robotic umbilical and incisional hernia repair for quicker recovery and less pain.
