Sharing faith, hope, and love since 1946. Through our faith based live in recovery programs lives are being changed.

Our Mission: We provide a place of refuge for the abused, recovery for the addicted and rescue for the hopeless through the transforming love of Jesus Christ. The Nehemiah House reaches out to the those caught in addiction, struggling in homelessness, and the disadvantaged men of Arkansas with the compassion of Jesus Christ. Those who are struggling with chemical dependency and other addictions find hope and support to break the shackles of their addictions and begin to rebuild their lives. Dorcas House provides help to women and children experiencing domestic violence and those caught addiction. We provide emergency services like food, shelter, clothing and crisis intervention to more than 400 women and children annually. We offer a faith based Domestic Violence Recovery Program and a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Program led by licensed Christian therapists. We also offer longer-term living arrangements available through our Work Program once finished with Recovery programs. The curriculum that we offer goes beyond educating women about the cycle of violence and addiction but rather addresses root problems through intensive group therapy. There is counseling and therapy provided for the children as well as family group therapy. Our program encourages women to address deep-seeded pain and suffering like childhood sexual abuse, co-dependence and depression. By addressing the deeper issues and providing education on how to overcome those issues we see lives changed and unhealthy cycles broken. We work cooperatively with law enforcement and court officials to promote the protection and safety of battered women and children. A Statement Regarding a Recently Shared Graduate Testimony in our Newsletter:

We recently shared an archived graduate testimony in our newsletter. While the testimony reflected the individual's experience at the time it was originally shared, we recognize that republishing it without sufficient context may have created an incomplete impression. We take seriously our responsibility to communicate thoughtfully, accurately, and with respect for the dignity and privacy of those whose stories we share. We are reviewing our process for selecting and updating archived testimonials to help ensure appropriate context in future communications.

After speaking with the graduate's mother, we were deeply moved by her perspective and grateful for the opportunity to hear her heart. She shared that she was thankful the testimony had been shared, explaining that it reminded her of her son's love for the Lord and the faith that was part of his life. While his story includes profound heartache, she does not want him to be remembered solely by the circumstances of his passing. She hopes his testimony will continue to point others toward the hope of Jesus Christ and the opportunity for healing and recovery available through Union Rescue Mission.

We are grateful for her willingness to share this perspective with us. Her words are a powerful reminder that every person we serve has a story that extends beyond their struggles, setbacks, or circumstances. Each life has dignity, each person's journey matters, and no single moment defines the entirety of a person's story.

At Union Rescue Mission, we know that recovery can be a difficult journey, and we never take lightly the challenges faced by those who struggle with addiction. We also know that relapse and loss are painful realities for individuals and families. Our calling remains to offer a refuge for the abused, recovery for the addicted, and rescue for the hopeless through the transforming love of Jesus Christ.

We share these stories because we believe there is hope, help is available, and no one should have to face the struggle alone. We pray that this graduate's testimony will continue to encourage those who are hurting, remind families that they are not alone, and help anyone struggling with addiction know that Union Rescue Mission is a place where they can seek help, encounter the love of Christ, and begin the journey toward healing.

We remain committed to honoring the dignity of every individual whose story we have the privilege of sharing and to communicating those stories with the care, compassion, and integrity they deserve.

🌮 Taco Tuesday + fellowship = a pretty great combination! ❤️

At the beginning of this month, our friends from Grace Church East End came out to spend the evening with the men at the Nehemiah House for Taco Tuesday, and it was such a blessing!

There were plenty of delicious meals shared, lots of laughter around the tables, and more than a few hugs exchanged along the way. We are so thankful for churches like Grace Church that don’t just talk about loving their community; they show up and do it.

Want to get involved with your church, Sunday School class, small group, workplace, or community organization? Serving a meal at the Nehemiah House or Dorcas House is a simple and meaningful way to give back.

☀️🏛️ Little feet, BIG adventures! ❤️

Our Dorcas House kiddos recently took advantage of the beautiful Arkansas weather and headed out on a little field trip! Their destination? The beautiful Arkansas State Capitol! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

After enjoying a walk in the sunshine, the kids had the opportunity to tour the Capitol building and learn a little more about the great state they call home! From Arkansas history to how our state government works, it was a fun opportunity to explore, ask questions, and learn outside the classroom.

We love being able to provide experiences like these for the children in our care. At the Dorcas House, we believe that healing and restoration aren't just for the moms we serve. They're for their children, too! ❤️

Childhood should be filled with curiosity, laughter, adventure, and opportunities to discover the world around us. Sometimes that looks like a big, exciting outing, and sometimes it's as simple as a beautiful fall day, a walk with friends, and a chance to learn something new.

We are thankful for every opportunity to help these precious kiddos make happy memories along the way! 🍂

🥁 Look what happens when someone believes in a child’s dream! 🥁

Last year, Sammie, one of the kiddos at Dorcas House, had a BIG request: a drum set.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of a donor who decided to invest in that dream, Sammie got those drums—and he has been putting them to good use ever since!

Last week, all that practice paid off when Sammie gave us an incredible drum solo! 👏 The photo may be a little blurry because it’s a screenshot from the video, but the talent, determination, and joy behind it are crystal clear.

Sammie, we are SO proud of you for sticking with it, practicing, and continuing to grow your skills. Keep making some noise! 🥁🎶

This past Saturday was a StrikeOut to remember! 🎳💜

Thank you to every supporter, sponsor, staff member, client, friend, and family member who joined us for the 15th Annual Strike Out Against Domestic Violence event!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this is a meaningful time to stand with women who are rebuilding their lives after abuse.

Right now, the Dorcas House is in need of hygiene and personal care items for the women we serve. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, lotion, and other everyday essentials may seem small, but they make a real difference for a woman beginning again.

You can help by having items shipped directly to the Dorcas House through Amazon or any online retailer that offers shipping or delivery. Donations can also be dropped off directly at our shelter.

We would also love for churches, businesses, schools, small groups, and community organizations to consider hosting a hygiene donation drive for the Dorcas House during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Every item collected helps us provide dignity, comfort, and practical support while women and their children focus on healing, recovery, and building a safer future.

This October, help us surround survivors with the love and support of a community that believes restoration is possible. 💜

A couple of weeks ago, the men of our Nehemiah House 9-Month Program had the opportunity to attend Men’s Encounter: a weekend dedicated to brotherhood, honesty, surrender, and drawing closer to Christ.

Over the course of the weekend, walls came down. Men were honest about their pasts, their wounds, their failures, and the pain they have carried for years. And in those places of honesty and surrender, God encountered them.

There were baptisms. There were prayers. There were hard conversations and powerful moments of breakthrough. Most importantly, bonds of brotherhood and discipleship were formed that we pray will last a lifetime.

Recovery is about so much more than simply walking away from drugs and alcohol. It is about learning how to live differently, how to walk alongside other men, and how to orient every part of life toward Christ.

We are incredibly thankful for opportunities like Men’s Encounter that allow our clients to step away from the distractions of everyday life and intentionally seek God together.

Please continue praying for these men as they return to the Nehemiah House and continue doing the hard, faithful work of recovery, restoration, and discipleship.
