Union Rescue Mission- Little Rock

Union Rescue Mission- Little Rock Sharing faith, hope, and love since 1946. Through our faith based live in recovery programs lives are being changed.

Our Mission: We provide a place of refuge for the abused, recovery for the addicted and rescue for the hopeless through the transforming love of Jesus Christ. The Nehemiah House reaches out to the those caught in addiction, struggling in homelessness, and the disadvantaged men of Arkansas with the compassion of Jesus Christ. Those who are struggling with chemical dependency and other addictions fi

nd hope and support to break the shackles of their addictions and begin to rebuild their lives. Dorcas House provides help to women and children experiencing domestic violence and those caught addiction. We provide emergency services like food, shelter, clothing and crisis intervention to more than 400 women and children annually. We offer a faith based Domestic Violence Recovery Program and a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Program led by licensed Christian therapists. We also offer longer-term living arrangements available through our Work Program once finished with Recovery programs. The curriculum that we offer goes beyond educating women about the cycle of violence and addiction but rather addresses root problems through intensive group therapy. There is counseling and therapy provided for the children as well as family group therapy. Our program encourages women to address deep-seeded pain and suffering like childhood sexual abuse, co-dependence and depression. By addressing the deeper issues and providing education on how to overcome those issues we see lives changed and unhealthy cycles broken. We work cooperatively with law enforcement and court officials to promote the protection and safety of battered women and children. For more information on our Recovery Programs through the Nehemiah House or the Dorcas House call (501) 370-0808 or go to our website at www.urmissionlr.org. If you or someone you know someone needs help, then please call the national domestic violence hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233); and she will be directed to the appropriate shelter or safe house.

🎉 Help Us Welcome Our Very Own Nick Smith as Operations Manager! 🎉

We are incredibly excited to officially welcome Nick Smith into his new role as Operations Manager of our 9–12 Month Faith-Based Residential Treatment Center, where he will serve alongside Director Tim Lawson!

Nick's journey is one that beautifully reflects the power of God's grace, redemption, and faithfulness. Just last year, Nick completed and graduated from our program. From the very moment he walked through our doors as a client, it was evident that God had placed something special inside of him. His servant's heart, compassion for others, and genuine desire to make every person feel loved, seen, valued, and understood set him apart.

During one conversation, Nick shared that he knew God had called him to help people—he just wasn't sure exactly what that would look like. As time went on, it became clear that God was already revealing that purpose. Nick consistently displayed the leadership qualities, humility, integrity, and relational skills that are so essential in this work. More importantly, he demonstrated a deep passion for walking alongside others as they navigate their own recovery journey.

Nick has a unique ability to connect with the men in our care because he has walked where many of them are walking today. He understands their struggles, their fears, and their doubts. Through his own testimony, he reminds them that hope is never lost. No matter what the enemy has tried to convince you of, you are never too far gone. God can take every part of your story—every hurt, mistake, setback, and failure—and transform it into a powerful message and testimony that impacts lives for years to come.

We remember the day Nick first walked through our doors seeking help. To see the man of God he has become today is nothing short of a miracle and a beautiful reminder that God is still transforming lives and restoring souls. He knew Nick's purpose long before Nick could see it himself. And the most exciting part? This is only the beginning of what God has planned for his future.

The leadership at Union Rescue Mission recognized early on the leadership potential within Nick and the incredible heart he has for helping others experience true freedom through a relationship with Jesus Christ. We could not imagine a better person to serve in this role.

Nick, we are beyond proud of you. Thank you for your faithfulness, your obedience to God's calling, and your willingness to allow Him to guide your steps. It is truly an honor to witness all that God is doing in and through your life.

Congratulations!!! You have trusted God's plan even when at times, none of it made sense, We can't wait to see the countless lives that will be impacted because of your willingness to say "yes" to God's plan. Keep shining your light and leading others toward hope, healing, and freedom. WE LOVE YOU!

The ladies at the Dorcas House had the opportunity to celebrate Memorial Day together with games, a cookout, and s’mores around the fire pit! 🇺🇸🔥

Moments like these are such a beautiful reminder that healing also includes laughter, fellowship, and creating healthy memories together. We are thankful for the chance to slow down, enjoy community, and celebrate the holiday as a family.

Thank you to everyone who supports our mission and helps make special days like this possible for the women and children we serve. ❤️

Help us celebrate a very special milestone at the Dorcas House!

One of our teens is graduating high school, and we could not be more proud of her hard work and perseverance. Graduation is a huge accomplishment, and we want to make sure she feels celebrated, loved, and encouraged as she steps into this next season of life.

We are currently gathering supplies for her graduation party and would be so grateful for anyone who would like to help make the day special.

Fellowship in the body of Christ can look a lot of different ways.

For Elizabeth, one of our directors at Union Rescue Mission, it recently looked like going to a Demon Hunter (Christian heavy metal) concert with three previous clients of the Dorcas House: Jaime, Natasha, and Jazmine, who also happens to be Elizabeth’s younger sister.

It was a fun reminder that Christian community does not always look the same from the outside. Sometimes fellowship looks like a quiet Bible study, a Sunday morning service, or coffee with a friend. Other times, it looks like loud music, fog machines, and worshipping Jesus with a bit of headbanging.

The beautiful thing about the body of Christ is that we are not all called to look the same, dress the same, or even enjoy the same style of music. We are called to love one another, encourage one another, and remember that every believer is deeply loved by God.

We are thankful for moments like this, where relationships continue beyond the walls of the Dorcas House and remind us that faith, friendship, and fellowship can take many forms. Demon Hunter

We need your help blessing Sammie with a pair of football cleats!

Sammie has the opportunity to play football, and we would love to help make sure he has what he needs to step onto the field prepared and confident. A good pair of cleats may seem like a small thing, but for a young man getting involved in sports, it can make a big difference.

If you would like to help provide Sammie’s cleats, you can purchase them directly through the link below (size 10):

We are so proud to celebrate a huge milestone for Misty. She got her first ever vehicle!

Misty came to the Union Rescue Mission Dorcas House just a few short weeks before giving birth to her daughter, Aurora, in February of 2023. Now, three years later, we have had the joy of watching her grow into a confident, hardworking, and independent woman.

While living at Dorcas House, Misty has held a steady job, a growing savings account, earned her high school diploma, and gotten her sweet daughter enrolled in preschool. Most importantly, she has a relationship with Jesus that has strengthened her, encouraged her, and helped her believe in the future God has for her.

Misty is now working at Happy Gray and serving as an intern at the Dorcas House. She has become someone we trust to help keep the house running when paid staff are off the clock, and she takes that responsibility seriously. She also has dreams of continuing her education so she can keep growing in her career and building a better future for herself, Aurora and her son Bailey.

Misty, we are so proud of you. Your hard work, faith, and perseverance are such a beautiful testimony of what God can do. Congratulations on your first vehicle! Your hard work is paying off!
