Meet Zita Upchurch, BSN!
Zita came to Horton's from CGS, a CMS Medicare Contractor. She brought with her over 30 years experience in the Orthotic/Prosthetic industry, having worked in a variety of roles.
Graduating with her BSN with minors in pediatric care and criminal psychology. Her life took a pivot and had her working for Palumbo Orthopedics, where she honed her skills. She worked with several Children's hospitals throughout the US and Canada to develop pediatric bracing for burn patients. During her tenure with Palumbo she helped to develop what is now known as the CMS Knee policy. This would lead her to another pivotal time in her career, taking her to CGS where she was the Provider Outreach O&P Liaison.
She was the driving force behind many of the changes in O & P education within Jurisdiction C leading to change in the insurance industry. This included the O&P Advisory Group, inclusion of the O&P industry leaders to the Jurisdiction Council, the collaboration with the many state and national associations, a product demonstration education day for claim and medical review teams and the documentation/audit workshops.
Zita continues her intense commitment today here at Horton's with her skills and knowledge of insurances and the Medicare program; she provides the clinical review guidance to Horton's great team of specialists to navigate and obtain the correct documentation and requirements for claims.
In her spare time while she cares for her older disabled sister, she enjoys volunteering with numerous 501C3s on working on a variety of projects; veterans with benefits, training service animals etc.

Please help us welcome Cody Kindy, RN, to Horton’s Orthotics & Prosthetics! ✨

Cody joined Horton’s in 2026 as a Clinical Care Specialist serving Central Arkansas. With 17 years of experience as an orthopedic nurse, he brings extensive surgical, clinical, and patient-care experience to the O&P field.

Before joining Horton’s, Cody worked alongside a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon in both clinic and surgical settings, helping support patients from evaluation through rehabilitation. His background in orthopedic surgery, amputee care, and mobility restoration gives him a unique perspective that helps improve communication, coordination, and continuity throughout the treatment process.

In his role as a Clinical Care Specialist, Cody works closely with patients, physicians, hospital staff, and the Horton’s clinical team to help improve the overall patient experience, support timely access to care, and assist patients as they navigate treatment and recovery.

We’re excited to have Cody as part of the Horton’s family! 👏
