Today, the flag at Logan Regional Medical Center flies at half-staff in honor of Willie Akers — a WVU and Logan High legend, a proud West Virginian, a devoted Wildcat, and, above all, a great man.

Some people leave behind accomplishments. Others leave behind a legacy that lives on in the lives they touched, the communities they served, and the generations they inspired.

Willie Akers leaves a legacy that will not soon be forgotten.

We are honored to lower our flag today in remembrance of a true West Virginia legend and to honor a life that meant so much to our community.

Rest in peace, Willie. Your legacy lives on. 💙💛

Now that we've had a little time to catch our breath (and relive all the pictures!), we want to say one very big thank you to everyone who helped make the Logan Regional Medical Center Centennial Concert such an unforgettable night!

For 100 years, Logan Regional has been part of this community, and this was our way of saying thank you for allowing us to be part of yours.
