Jim B. Vinson Obituary
Jim Bearl "Bo" Vinson, 94, of Logan (Cow Creek), West Virginia, passed away on May 31, 2026. Born on February 2, 1932, in Fort Gay, West Virginia, Jim lived a life marked by faithful service, hard work, and love for his family and community.
Jim devoted twenty years to the United States Marine Corps, where he excelled to the rank of Gunny E-7 as an enlisted man - a testament to the spirit and dedication he carried throughout his life. After his military service, he worked in the coal mines before channeling his expertise into education, spending over two decades teaching vocational education in diesel mechanics and hydraulics at the Ralph R Willis Career and Technical Center. Many students were better prepared for life's work because of him.
In his leisure time, Jim was most at home on the golf course, where he enjoyed the game he loved well into his later years. Personal highlights were a few holes in one and golfing with Arnold Palmer while stationed in Hawaii during his military service. Sunday lunches with family or friends were a cherished ritual, and he was a faithful member of Logan Church of the Nazarene.
Jim was the last surviving child of his parents, the late Monzola and Alice Malissa (Smith) Vinson. of Fort Gay, WV. He was preceded in death by brothers Millard Filmore "Doc" Vinson and William Jesse Vinson; sisters Arzella "Zell" Phiffer, Mimzie Lou "Creasy" Mahon Adkins, Tilda Ann "Tootsie" Brewer, Edna Mae "Helen" Kavulick, Barbara Malinda Baisden and Geneva "Jenny" Mahon.
