Still alive, friends. Thanks for your support and reach outs. They really help. We are getting a good system here and may have secured a live-in caretaker for mom who will start mid-July. Thankful for the beautiful support team my dad had helped mom develop over the past three years. They all know how special my parents are and are rising up to help

My brother got some new makeup for mom and gave her a glow up today. 💫💫 He’s such a good son. So proud to see the way he is nurturing mom. 🥺 thank you for being so compassionate. See you soon! (Ps I’ll need a glow up too)

Held my breath for over 24 hours. Finally exhaled for a minute with support of so many friends. Thank you for all of the reach outs and love, everyone. It helps. Also, thank you and for lunch, my books, my comfort stuffy and just for holding space today. Thank you and for forcing me to go to the beach sunset and for that generous doordash. And thank you to my beautiful east coast bestie for going to moms bedside yesterday and giving me the advice that is becoming my affirmation right now. “This is going to be hard. I know you can do hard things.” My brother and I have a huge job ahead of us. If you know of a good Elder Care Attorney or social worker in MA, please DM me. Thank you for being there now. And for getting him there so quickly and taking care of the home front (and puppies!) while he is away. So grateful for so many people right now. 🙏🙏🙏

Yesterday the world lost the most loyal man it has ever witnessed. My dad entered my life when I was 3 months old. We became everything to him. My mom always liked to tell the story that the first time he held me I puked on him. And the first time he gave my brother a shoulder ride he pi**ed all over his suede jacket. He sacrificed until his last breath. Stoic. Brought the only love he knew how to give. Fiercely. Every day. He was my mom’s caretaker in the end. I wonder if he still heard this song, their wedding song, while he took care of her? Did it play in his mind as he pushed her heavy wheelchair up those ramps? I bet it did. Always and forever, dad. I’ll always love you.
