Founded by a Ukrainian woman living with HIV, Fundacja HelpNowHUB is helping people affected by war and migration navigate health care, social services and daily life in Poland.

With support from the AHF Partnership Fund, the organization has expanded peer counseling, mobile HIV/STI testing and empowerment programs for migrant women — bringing support closer to communities facing some of the greatest barriers to care.

In Chiuzira, Lilongwe, AHF Malawi and local partners brought HIV, STI and reproductive health services directly to community members — helping make care more accessible and reducing barriers like stigma and long travel times.

The team distributed 6,200+ condoms and nearly 850 HIV self-test kits, while 300+ people were screened for STIs. Community volunteers also helped connect people with health services and ongoing care.

For 40 years, AHF has been there.

We’ve been there to care. To speak up. To fight back. And to stand with our community when it mattered most.

As we approach our 40th anniversary and World AIDS Day, we’re looking back at some of the pivotal moments that shaped the fight against HIV and AIDS, and shaped who we are today.

We start in 1986, when a California ballot measure threatened people with AIDS with quarantine. Our community organized, fought back and won.

That fight helped lay the foundation for what would become AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

⚽Kicking off conversations about HIV prevention in Mozambique!

At Costa do Sol Beach, AHF engaged 25 young beach soccer players in an open conversation about the myths and facts surrounding condom use, helping dispel misconceptions and reinforce protection against HIV, STIs, and unintended pregnancies.

The activity also brought prevention directly into young people’s hands, with 1,440 condoms distributed. ❤️

In the early 1990s, AIDS activists refused to let the country look away. At Grand Central Station, ACT UP unfurled a banner reading “One AIDS Death Every 8 Minutes” as part of the 1991 Day of Desperation. That same era, activist and organizer Urvashi Vaid held up a sign reading “Talk Is Cheap. AIDS Funding Is Not” during a speech by President George H.W. Bush.

While politicians debated, delayed, and offered sympathy without action, people with AIDS and the communities who loved them demanded funding, research, treatment, dignity, and survival. AIDS activism reminds us that healthcare progress is never automatic. It happens because people organize, speak up, and refuse to accept silence as policy.

No country should have to choose between paying debt and saving lives. But today, billions of people live in places where debt comes before health and education—and poorer countries send trillions of dollars to wealthier ones each year.

That’s why our Freedom from Debt campaign is calling for change:
✔ Fair deals through a global Borrowers’ Forum for developing countries
✔ Debt payments paused during health and climate emergencies
✔ A 1% tax on AI companies to help reduce debt and support basic public needs

Because a fairer system means a stronger, more stable world for all.
